  • Ryzen showing up as $333 for me.

    • I believe adding it to your cart will change the price to $299.7?

      • Yep. I ordered Fri night and it also gave me free shipping. But there was some kind of unexplained 1% surcharge so that part was a wash. Still an excellent deal overall.

I grabbed a cpu/mobo bundle, cooler, RAM, GPU and HDD. After 2 years of holding off I went… NOW! 😆

Who here is waiting for the Ryzen 7 5700X to come out?

    • +2

Not really waiting for it as such, but I think as long as the price is right it would be a good sweet spot for performance/longevity/cost.

Can imagine it will be similar performance to 5800x with less power used and less heat to dissipate.

      • yep… looking to upgrade to one when they come out Tuesday 04/04/2022 US/Global release date

        • I'm not that keen. So many chips available now there's no point paying a premium for one in my opinion. More like as they become cheaper on sale and stocked everywhere it'd be a great upgrade for an ageing AM4 system.

        • I'm guessing it'll be probably $150? more, what with GST and exchange rate. 2c/4t more depends if it's worth it for your workload.

          • @joshx: I don't think it can be.

5600x on sale is approx $300, 5800x on sale approx $440; so the 5700x? Probably depends on benchmarks and sentiment.

$389ish would be my guess. $400+ it'd probably be a hard sell against the 5800x.

Worth noting the 5700x and 5800 non-X are same CPU, with the latter being marketed to OEM and prebuilts. This could mean they end up flooding the market and being the best value CPU about, sort of how the 3600 were everywhere last gen, and could be had for a little over $200 if you looked for deals.

    Ended up getting

    • Good choice!

I went with the Corsair Vengence LPX 2x16GB 3600MHz CL18 DDR for $215 - 10% (193.50) mostly because I've owned that brand before with good results. But you've probably saved yourself 20 bucks.

AMD still has issues with their mobo? See: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/kbr6zl/usb_issues_on_b…
USB connection drops and external hdd data corruptions would be extremely annoying.

The article you linked has your answer. Flash the latest BIOS.

      • I know that's one of the suggested solutions, but it didn't work for everyone.

  • finally, the 5600x got to a reasonable price. 500+ was way too high for its own good
