Im wanting to upgrade from my 1650 super and always had my eyes on the 2070s pre-3000 series/price hikes.
What's the equivalent now?

3060 < 2070s < 3060ti
You should look at what you want to do too, while the 3060ti is a great card if you want to game at 1440p then grab a 3070, they're less than $100 more at the moment if you keep your eye out. If you're gaming at 1080p then the 3060 is $200 cheaper than the 3060ti and sits between the 2070 and 2070S.
Granted, this could all change by tomorrow with the way things are moving, who knows if nVidia has a batch of 3070s with bad yields that suddenly turn into 3060tis and they flood the market. Stock has always been pretty limited on 3060tis because they're good cards, they're just a 3070 with less shaders/cores turned on.
Ill update the thread but yeah imo I want 1440p.
Bought the 1650 super 3 years ago with a 1080p 144hz (aoc) and really want to upgrade to 1440p finally. Slowly been upgrading parts 1600 af > 3600 so its now GPU time.
From some googling:
3060 12gb
3060ti 8gb or 12gb?
2080 refurbished?
New Intel Discrete GPU cards coming in very shortly so if you think you can wait 1~2 mo's you'll have more options
They might even have more than 8GB VRAM for the mid-tier models.
Wouldn't bother with the 3060 then, it's a great 1080p card, that's about it. You'll hate yourself later down the road for it.
For good 1440p I would go straight for the 3070, if you look at the link above it shows the average FPS at 1440p for 8 games at 76fps and they're not necessarily the highest end of games. You'll still be using DLSS from time to time if you want ray tracing at 1440p. IMO it's worth the extra $100 over the 3060ti at the moment (and it looks like refurbished 2080's are very expensive still).
If 3060tis drop in price then it's a good choice but not amazing. I have one at the moment slightly overclocked and I'm getting 3070 speeds out of it, but I got it back when 3070s were $500 more than this 3060ti, right now they're much, much closer in price. This is pretty close to RRP - https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/colorful-geforce-rtx-3070… - do need to consider power requirements though.
The 3060ti is a great card though. I use it for 4K gaming in most games with DLSS or turning down the graphics a little bit. I'll wait until there's a 4070 or the 3080 is less than $1k.
Hmm the games I play really aren’t that hefty.
Overwatch
Forza
WoW
CoD
Any newer game I’m normally opting to play on my ps5. A big reason I wanted 1440p was because screen realestate ahaha as stupid as that sounds it’s a blessing with the software I use. I just didn’t do it because my 1650 would have choked hard on gaming.
Thanks for all the information though. Let’s see what the next month brings.
