15% off Pet Insurance Premium for 12 Months @ Knose

50
Take15Take10POMONE

Knose is one of the newer pet insurance companies. I discovered them via the Choice comparison

During the quote process choose a promo code:

  • Take15 — 15% off the first year's premium
  • Take10 — 10% off the first year's premium
  • POMONE — first month premium $0

I don't know when they expire.

I compared all the policies but went for this one. It's a chance being a new company but they have no sub-limits which is a big benefit and 25,000 cover , a lot of the other underwriters add in sublimits to reduce the benefits, such as a $300 limit for vet visits! e.g Hollard

They also have flexible benefit pay-out percentages of 70%, 80% or 90% and no excess for each claim.

Unusually you can add in a zero to 200 excess payment for the very 1st claim in any year which does reduce the premiums. I worked out you pay the 200 anyway in extra payments if you go for a zero annual excess, but up to you. If you make no claims in a year and you selected a $200 excess you are $200 up on the deal ;-)

Obviously year 2 premiums will jump by 15% once the introductory offer expires and probably will go up another 20% because thats what pet insurance does ! So be prepared for that.

Check exclusions , they don't do complimentary therapies for example.

I have no business connection with Knose, just a dog owner.

  • My quote came back at $147/month… more than twice current bupa policy for the same level of cover.

    • OMG , $147 what pet do you have ? and what options did you set on the online form ?
You can't get the same level of good cover on Bupa as you can with Knose, its impossible. Bupa use Hollard which in my opinion acts like its a monopoly supplier. For example
Bupa have a sublimit on vet visits of $300, 3 or 4 visits in a year , and you're paying 100% of the vet fee thereafter. Knose are unlimited
Bupa have a sublimit on tick paralysis of $1,000 to $1,500 , Knose are unlimited
Bupa have a Cruciate ligament injury sublimit , Knose are unlimited - It can get VERY expensive
Bupa have a skin condition sublimit of only $500 , Knose are unlimited
Bupa have 0, 100 or 200 Excess for EACH NEW claim, Knose is Zero , but you can chose a different type of excess for just the FIRST claim of the year and the rest that year are zero excess.
PS I'm not a professional insurance broker so please do your own research.

French Bulldog. Probably most expensive dog to insure. Bupa is getting scrapped (after the 3 months free that they offered when cancelling) money saved will just be added to savings. Not worth it

I have had knose insurance for 2 years now.
They have been easy to deal with.
I few things about pet insurance in general:
    - all policies (except knose) are underwriten by only 2 insurers. Knose are different to the big 2
    - you can’t “transfer” waiting periods or pre-existing conditions. That is, if your pet develops a lifelong condition while insured, if you move insurer’s then it is now pre-existing with the new insurer and not covered.
    - they (knose) are very good to existing customers. I am on a 2 year old policy (which has increased) but is still cheaper than the 15% off promo.
    - the earlier in life of the pet you get insurance the cheaper it will be (and stay).

Thanks for this, I was shopping around for new pet insurance as Medibank went up $10 a month, this plan is $10 cheaper an 4x the annual benefit limit!

  • Says my moggy is too old (11yrs).

    • 11 yrs old ! Yep too old. Risk is too high that you will make too many expensive claims I think.

  • With pre-existing conditions , Choice gave out Shonky awards a few years ago.
At least now most policies will remove pre-existing conditions if they have been cured or are temporary after a waiting period which ranges from a few weeks up to 24 months.
Also note that with Knose when you first start a new policy you can optionally get your vet to fill out a detailed waiver form after an examination. This removes waiting periods for things like cruciate ligaments from the standard 6 months. This is a good idea as it reduces risk to the insurance company and hopefully reduces premiums to pet owners.

Thanks so much, I was about to buy Pet Insurance next week with Knose so this was perfect I found this.

When I called their call centre, they said there's no expiry date on FINDER10 which was from Finder.com.au so hopefully it's the same for these codes.
