Better off with retailer discounts imho.

I got my chicks with my new back to the future car I just ordered 😊

    • Nice, but you paid full MSRP i.e. $270. Retailer discount if you don’t mind the wait will be ~25%, so you effectively paid nearly $70 for the chicks.

      • Depends on whether it stays a Lego store exclusive.

I needed a purchase to redeem the last of the vip coins (bastards making you do 6 purchases…) so i went for it too.

The chicks set really sucks balls though. Can't believe min order $139. Should be $89.

        • Uhm no, almost nothing remains a lego store exclusive. They are trying to push fomo that isn't real. The Delorean will be in stores within 3 months or so, just like the Ecto-1 and '89 Batmobile before it.

And the exclusive tag on lego's website is not even accurate. For example, Seinfield is marked as a lego store exclusive yet it's been available at all major retailers for a few months now (still available).

          • @DevGuy: When will they make the at-at available elsewhere :/

            • -2

@justtoreply: See my above comment. Almost nothing remains exclusive, we have the receipts.

Tell you what. You pay your $270 now and I'll get the Dalorean when it sees a decent retail discount, ok? No skin off my nose.

              • @DevGuy: Diagon alley is still exclusive.
Don't think I've seen the Disney castle at other retailers.
Also alot of the brickheadz are only available at Lego.

                • @gtr80y: I bought the Disney castle from zavvi for 380.

For anyone that has a credit card with price protection this is the best of both worlds. You pay full price from Lego, get the VIP points, bonus whatever they're giving away that month and fast delivery as soon as it's out - then in the next 12 months when it shows up in other stores you price-match and essentially have paid the lower price - the true OzBargain way.

$20k lifetime limit on 28d fyi.

      • I got it today, got my chicks, and added to my VIP points at lego website.

I do mind the wait. Doubt they will be 25% off for a while

I did the same as Berger 25% would be sweet but I don’t see it happening so soon for such a popular item but if I’m wrong I’m down $70 😭

Remember we also get 5% off with the VIP points from lego so we bringing it back to 20%

    • No it probably won't be soon, that's why I said "if you're patient" you can save about $70.

But you have to spend your VIP points (almost always with added cash) so it is future uncertain vs immediate certain saving. I have tons of VIP points because I was a sucker for the promo sets but I've since saved a fortune waiting for retailer discounts instead of paying top dollar in order to get promos.

    • Enjoy now, avoid the wait.

Thanks Dev guy I am quite new to lego and so far have been quite a sucker on pricing so I’ll take
Your advice on my next purchase :) trying to get home alone house for at least 20% since I missed the last price drop :(

    • I was lucky to grab the home alone house from amazon for around 250. My kids are helping build it and quite enjoying the little easter eggs as they watched Home Alone for the first time last Christmas.

It's nearly done (doing the roof now) and it doesn't look like a $400 set to me. But then again, LEGO is going to keep increasing prices until people stop paying. Just look at the new Star Wars trash compactor's price…

  • Home alone for $250 is just a good deal! enjoy the build experience!

Yah the new star wars stuff is crazy expensive not really a fan of the trash compactor I would like a new death star.

Waiting until someone puts it up for sale on Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace. That's how I got my Year of The Tiger.

Not worth paying the big markup in LEGO stores just for this.
