Language Learning App Lifetime Subscription: 65% off Sale + 60% off Discount Coupon - ~A$32.74 (RRP A$225.94) @ Drops

310
DROPSTEACHERS

Had this deal in my emails for a 65% off sale for the lifetime sub for language drops. Checked around for coupons (as you do) and noticed the DROPSTEACHERS knocks off an additional 60% from the sale price making it $32.74 AUD inc gst.

Nice language learning app.

  • Anyone used this before?
How does it compare with Duolingo?

    • +1

I've been using it for a while just on the free tier. I find it nice to work through, didn't really use Duolingo much, couldn't get into it.

    • I just started using it, its pretty straight forward learning process based mostly on memory recall. At this point I haven't seen anything around you speaking the words
What I like about it is you can pick categories like food, animals, people, etc etc.. there is also a part specifically for travel which is what I use it for.

IMO so far its great for travellers that want to only used limited words / "Engrish" type of interactions. Like "I want apple" / "Apple, have?" not full complete sentences "I would like an apple please" / "Do you sell apples?"

    Damn that’s good,

I bought lifetime already, and I thought it was a good sale then. This is a really good sale though,

It’s good to build up vocabulary but it’s not going to teach you conversational grammar and stuff, which other apps are better for.

    • Which is good for the conversational grammar stuff? I've always figured going to classes with real people would be best to hone that skill.

      • Classes or travelling is still the best but duolingo, speakly etc also do a bit of grammar vs this which is just words.

That being said drops is a good way to just do 5 minutes or something a day and they have a really good range of languages,

Thanks OP. And if you use your ABN then the total becomes A$29.62 (excl. GST?). Enjoy!

    他妈的!太贵了!

Would also like to know how it fares with Duolingo.

  • Can someone check how good the Levantine Arabic content is thankssss

Is this something that nobody pays full price for? It seems even at $30 there are a many other alternatives .

A lot of language learning products are grossly overpriced. I guess it costs a lot of time and effort to develop an app like this and you need to recoup it somehow. I highly doubt this is worth $30 though, with all the other free or nearly free resources on websites and YouTube.

  • If anybody can suggest a good place to learn Japanese please suggest. I am thinking of getting a degree of that language but with family commitment, if there is a better way please suggest

    Thank you in advance

  • I used drops a lot for Korean, it's great for hangul drills so I jumped at this.
Went into app, went to join premium and it threw the payment window at me without a chance to put in coupon. So I cancelled out.
Immediately got an email from Drops with "we noticed you almost joined but didn't so here's a bigger discount" and a link. Used that link and could join with the coupon as well for only $24 total.

    Could be worth a try.

    • Did it include a promo code?

      • The email? No it was a direct link

The promo code from OP worked with it

  • Played with this with the kids and they really enjoyed it. Seems to have better gamified design than other apps
