    Hi Mate

I tried it when this company was launched in India. They are a big player now. They are good and will definitely like to launch themselves in Australia now. They provide very competitive price even for Brands such as Oakley/ Rayban.

    • +1

I get my glasses through Zenni.com and their prices start at USD$6.95 plus postage.

I've been using them for years for both rimless and $6.95 spares. No complaints. They even have a virtual "try the glasses on" feature where you upload your photo and overlay the glasses on your photo.

      • Yeah, $6.95 USD + $9.95USD shipping.

        Even with a 15% off code ( HPOWO15 ), that's $15.86USD - or $21.16 AUD.

It's cheap, but not cheaper than this deal.

        • if you buy a whole bunch then it is

i find zennis designs more appealing. they have tonnes more good reviews as well, and people vouch for them

also they have virtual try on whereas lenskart dont

    • +8

This sounds like such a shill post

      • +1

Indeed, I have used zenni for years, granted by the time I tweak the glasses they cost about $20-$40 each

But since I wear them while playing basketball. I don't have a cry if they get broken

Funny enough last time I was on their site it looked like they had Zac lavine as a brand ambassador

        • You need Horace Grant type glasses

  • Can you use insurance for their frames? Can't see it on the site.

    • +1

The shopping cart has a banner that says "All payments are processed in USD" … I suspect that will make claiming on your health insurance more difficult than usual (if it's even possible).

      • Impossible to claim on health insurance if they don't have an ABN

  • +4

They are india based startup and now they really grew big. They virtually made physical shops redundant in big cities in india. And all they did is open up the eyewear market where margins are not just in percentage but in multiples.

    • +1

      virtually

I like what you did there. Now I wonder if India has the infrastructure for large volumes of postage and would online price be the same as their store price?

      • +2

India has much better postage infrastructure than Australia, trust me. Australian online shopping frenzy is just getting started and the delivery reliability just started getting better.

Amazon started it's business in India years before here in Australia and there were other well established online markets before Amazon opened its shop. Infact some mobile brands like Motorola sells their phones online only.

  • How does this compare to clearly. My clearly broke after 6 months and don't think there is warranty even

    • +1

I have a pair from Clearly that are three years going strong. Better than I've gotten out of any other pair of specs from a B&M store, although I might have gotten lucky.

      • Do they have warranty

        • I would imagine they have at least a short warranty, but I don't know

        • +1

Had a good experience in the past, years back. New glasses arrived and they were super heavy. Retuned them no hassles

    • +1

there is warranty of 1 year: https://www.clearly.com.au/help

      • Mine is accidental damage it fell from same height and broke I'm not sure. Old frames I had was very strong

        • should've contacted them anyway. in the past, they've given me $40 store credit for damage i did to my lens when trying to adjust the frame when they could have just said tough luck, bye

  • +1

Can't even select my prescription even with the "Ultra Premium Lenses", Sphere range is only -8.0 to +6.0.
Never noticed this problem with any other online glasses vendor I've checked, for reference Clearly allows -15.0 to +8.0.

    • EASY! just uploaded my prescription. Let the AI figure out the rest

      • I see.
Stupid website design is not a good reason for -ve vote so will fix that now.

Except there is no confirmation, check or reference to what Index lenses they will supply before you hand over your money. Could well be (worse than normal) coke-bottle-bottom lenses.

Copy-paste the text/icons at the bottom of the shopping cart has some interesting info (see 'stupid webdesign' comment above):

        1 Year Warranty
        365 DAY WARRANTY
        Free Shipping In India
        FREE SHIPPING
        AND RETURNS
        Exchange At Our Stores
        100% MONEY
        BACK GUARANTEE
        14 Days Free Return
        14 DAYS
        FREE RETURN

      • I just did this. I wonder if this will still get processed… I've got a feeling it wont because the lenses on the specific frame I picked might be too wide or too big.

    • I notice on some frame, it does allow you to select up to -15.0, but no way to find out which one until you click on the frame and select the lens.

      • Maybe if I made an account, uploaded the prescription I could then filter by appropriate frames … or that could just be too logical. ;)

  • Haven’t come across any optician offering free glasses. Asked local opticians to reglaze my frame & they ask for $200 at the least. This seems like a good deal

  • Strange! Why does it say I’m associated with this store. Must have checked the wrong box while posting this deal.

    • What's your commission man ?

      • +8

Let’s just say I’ve made a fortune from all the 150 deals I have posted.

        • Haha you win ozbargain lifestyle awards 2022

    • Can you hook me up with a deal?

      • +1

I post for fun. No commission. Not associated with Lenskart. Just checked the box by mistake

  • +1

Posting for fun. No commission. See the variety of deals I post.

    • Thank you for the post, it's another useful option to consider for those who need glasses.

  • +1

As an alternative which has physical shops across Melb/Geelong + Sydney + Brisbane..

    https://dresden.vision/au

They are linked to healthcare providers.

I believe you can upload a recent prescription as well.

I'm not associated with them .. but I saw a friend of mine post on FB so I went into one of their shops and got the eye check and all that done.

The frames they have are pretty funky and unique. Its not like a top brand name but quality is decent.

If they have your lense type on site they actually do it on the spot which I found good when I had lost my original pair.

Beware of this company, they are well known for selling duplicate products in India. I bought Ray Ban glasses when I was in India, they were peeled in just 4 months and they never responded.

    • +1

Did you try to contact Ray Ban with invoice from this company?

  • no cashrewards, dang

  • Quite expensive frames at starting price compared to Zenni.

Even the $6.95 Zenni frames can be good, in fact I've paid up to $30 for frames from Zenni in the past but the last $6.95 pair I got are the best all rounders I've ever had.

  • I've been using Zenni for a while now, but will probably give these guys a go, especially if they have free shipping and returns. The unfriendly returns policy with Zenni was getting annoying.

  • I use aliexpress, might do a deal post about it. Cheapest pair was $3 delivered. Photochromic aviator type $28 delivered. Have to check overall width (tend to be narrow) and ipd but otherwise good. Also have a yearly soft contact lens for $20 and it wasn't the cheapest one there.

    • post it

    • Prescription pair for $3? Are they premade or custom made? I just checked out Aliexpress. They send it with bubble wrap only. You can buy a frame case for $3. Then 50c for lens cloth. Could be good for a spare

      • Premade I am guessing. Bubble wrap works for them. have had basic lens cases and cloth with most.

  • Anyone used Vision Direct & how’s your experience been? Good to buy branded frames from there?

    • +1

Have bought Ray Bans and Oakleys from them. No issues with claiming from private health.
      Would recommend

  • Giving this site a go. I am a contact lens wearer, but you always need a pair ready to go when you're as blind as me during the changeover period at least. Ended up as $68 for a half decent looking pair with ultra thin lens add on - cheaper than I'd pay WITH Bupa benefit applied at Specsavers for even the shittest pair of frames. A worthwhile gamble.

    • Let us know how u went. I got 2 pairs with thin lens add on in frameless and branded sunglasses last week for $199. They got storewide sale. With HCF cost me nothing ymmv. Only problem if u use your health fund for frames, u won't have any leftover for contacts.

      • Yeah I stick with contacts 99% of the time, and 12 months of lenses pretty much exactly exhausts my optical benefit at the end of 12 months.

I recently tried to use some leftover benefit to get, what I had hoped would be, a cheap pair as backup - BUPA I learned doesn't cover the "cosmetic" portions of the glasses, meaning lens thinning and weight reduction, etc wasn't covered. So $39 frames ended up at around $130 out of pocket despite optical benefit applied. I'll come back to this comment when the Lenskart pair arrive and update with my thoughts!

  • ⛔April 1 to 3 - extra 30% off lenses and 20% off frames.

I have bought a pair. If you require progressive lenses, this is probably the cheapest place to them from.

  • ordered on 30/3 and received mine today. Cheap-looking, light frame. Good for backup.

  • +1

Ordered on 30th and received today. I really like them. The frame is on par with most of what specsavers has to offer and the lenses are very clear.

I also ordered a pair two days prior from spaecsavers, paid four times the price, and I'm still waiting.

  • +1

They sure are quick. I ordered on the 2nd and got an sms to say they have posted them on the 4th.

  • +1

Glasses just arrived, very good quality for the money. Much better than the glasses I got from Glassesshop.com. Will definitely order again from here.

  • +1

Got my two pairs, last Sunday and Monday. All up 1.6 High Index with all mod cons and John Jacobs frames for $100. It was so cheap because I chose a pair from the BOGOF clearance range.

  • +1

Mine arrived but very disappointed. Gave them the same script as the two Zenni's I have. Eyesight was blurry with Lenskart and required me to squint to achieve focus. I then tried to log in to raise a returns ticket and couldn't because both the US and Aus sites were unavailable. Sent an email to CS, who got me to confirm the script. Told me they would get back within 24hrs. After 48hrs I passed it over to Paypal. I accept there will sometimes be manufacturing issues, but the site of a major player down and the indifference of CS have put me off them.

EDIT: About 10mins after posting I received an email requesting I have an eye exam to confirm the script that is perfectly fine for my Zenni glasses. Hmm… I don't think they're keen on refunds. https://lenskart.us/pages/return-exchange, it's supposed to be easy.

    • -1

not sure why you decided to give lenskart a go when zenni is much better

      • You don't know until you have tried? All good now, money back and lesson learnt. Ordered a pair from Zenni with 30% off code yesterday as penance.:)

    • +1

Sorry to hear that you had a problem with your glasses. I got two pairs from Lenskart and they are of high quality, both frames and lenses are great, and the prescription is correct. The reason I tried Lenskart is, for progressive lenses they are considerably cheaper than the rest, including Zenni, although I normally buy from Clearly.
I have contacted Lenskart before buying from them to check their refund policy. I found them to be helpful and responsive to my questions.
They are correct in saying that if you took your glasses to an optometrist they could check the glasses script, normally I wouldn't expect you to be charged for this. It appears that Lenskart are confirming that they did make the lenses according to your script.
Did you get progressive lenses? I have been told that they are harder to make without having the glasses to try on?

      • I'm glad they pleased you. My experience was entirely the opposite. Following your logic - Zenni made them wrong, but their wrong glasses are good for me, whereas Lenskart glasses, which are right, are bad for me.:) I'm sure they have lots of satisfied customers; I'm not one of them, and never will be. I've had the refund from Paypal, yet I'm still receiving emails about waiting another 24 hours for a response from CS.

BTW, I've been buying progressive specs online for the past 10 years. The last two pairs of glasses I had from Zenni there was a problem. The lens height was a lot more than I usually get necessitating me to lean backwards. I explained the issue to Zenni, they explained how they placed the progressive transition, BUT then refunded and told me to give the glasses to a charity. No fuss, no bother. They want me as a customer, and they want me recommending them. They think in terms of having a customer for life, and the customer telling their family and friends of their experiences.

Let me know how you get on if/when you have to return glasses to Lenskart. This is what I received after having asked for a refund:

With regards to the previous mail, we wish to inform you that we will provide you exchange of the eyeglasses, however, we request you kindly visit your nearest optician or optometrist for an eye examination and kindly share the updated prescription with us.

Because, it might be possible that your powers may have changed, please be assured, we will provide you the exchange with your updated prescription.

Contrast it with https://lenskart.us/pages/return-exchange. There's looking good, and there's doing good. In their mind, I've got two pairs of glasses of the same prescription that are fine, but the problem is my script has changed and that's why their glasses aren't fine for me??? Seriously!!! There's something wrong, it must be the customer's fault because we're perfect. No, thanks.

I recently bought a pair of glasses with them. They claimed that their Blu cut lenses can block 98% of blue light. But it turns out that's not true at all. I tried contacting their support but they take a day to reply to each email and they asked me to do a blue pen test but I told them that many websites say the blue pen test is a scam because that's purple violet light and not blue light from screens. If it really blocked blue light, the colour test on a computer screen would make the blue darker. I would suggest people to avoid buying from this company because they mislead you and their customer service is unacceptable.
