    Are these beds flood proof?

    • +17

Our beds aren't flood proof - however, if some water does spill on your bed then you can just wipe it up with a clean cloth, and let it dry naturally. You may be left with a faint mark, but it definitely won’t affect the structure or durability of the bed.

  • What is the maximum weight?

        Whoa! that's awesome.

      • +25

Touch and go for me. Might need a king single…

      • Wow that’s the weight of a car

        • Which one?

          • +2

@Tacooo: My Volkswagen Amarok Ute is 2350kg. So Queen Bed and up can support it?

            • @killingtime: Definitely not on the four wheels. You’ll need to flatten that bitch first.

It's the dynamic loads that you've got to watch.. Especially if it's focused in one area. >_>

        Genuinely though, great initiative.

Your name certainly checks out, but there's no need to be a dick about this.

I live in the flood affected area and have seen more shit on the sides of roads than I likely ever will again in my life.

Now we've got flood warnings again for tonight and tomorrow.

Cardboard or not, bedframes are one of the things people need. Given the option of sleeping on this or the mouldy or stripped floor, this is preferable

        • +9

Are you ok my friend? Feeling cranky? Tired?

Perhaps you could use some sleep…..

        • +6

Damn, who knew being flood affected was a competition? Ninternet didn't mention anything about being more or less a flood victim than anyone else.
But please let us know what metric we should judge the competition by, the most flood affected people don't have houses to even put beds in anymore…

This gave me an idea… I might try making a diy version out of Amazon boxes.

    • recycled cardboard isn't healthy due to the manufacturing process so would avoid

  • +13

Upvoted. Not affected by floods, but thanks for helping those who are.

Anywhere to donate the shipping cost to help out who need these?

    • +8

      Thanks for the idea MrBr0!

We've just created this link where you can donate the shipping cost if you'd like :)

      • +4

Came here to ask the same thing, great idea! Have donated.

      • So they donate, how do the people who need it but can't afford the shipping use the donation? Just curious

        • Great question! We are partnering with an organisation @wardellcore who can distribute the beds to those in need but can't afford the shipping.
We also now have a section in the form for those who can't afford shipping.

  • +4

Admirable and love your generosity! I wish I was more kind! Kinda personal question but may I ask about your story, what do you have to do to foster that kind of mindset?

    • +8

Those are very kind words PeeDee. We're a local Aussie business (based in Melbourne) on a mission to create sustainable furniture so we can minimise our impact on the planet.

As the recent flood events have unfolded in both QLD and NSW, we found that our beds could be a really great fix for those whose furniture has been destroyed.

We're just trying to give back to the Aussie community who has supported us ever since we launched in January :)

      • +2

Well done, thank you for doing this. I've just donated towards shipping. I encourage other Ozbargainers with a little disposable income to do the same if possible.

Question for Yona. Have you considered asking another Aussie company like Koala mattress to partner with you on your philanthropy?! Sounds like a perfect match :)

        • +5

Thank you for the kind words smartblaa, and for your generous donation.

We are actually chatting to an organisation organising some efforts in the Northern Rivers Neighbourhoods who are coordinating a large donation of mattresses from Koala!

We are currently trying to work out the logistics around combining forces, so that people in need can get a bed and a mattress together.

We'll keep you updated on any progress!

    Good on ya mate

  • Awesome way to help out the community and amazed by the durability and max weight of these beds. Great to see you've taken steps to make sure this gets to as many people who actually need it too

  • Why all the upvotes? Does that mean people will buy one, or they are just being kind

  • +2

A cardboard bed with a 5 year warranty, now I've seen everything!

  • Looks like a great product! I would be interested in buying 1 or 2! Any deals you can offer us?

    • +7

@tnt_13 we already have an ongoing sale, but I've managed to convince the team to make a special OzBargain coupon :) - OZB10 for 10% off all orders (expires in 72 hours)

      • Great! =) thanks =)

  • Amazing initiative, well done to you and your team. Have donated as well :)

If there is any money collected through this portal that is leftover after all beds have been shipped out, it will be donated to organisations that are helping families who are recovering from the flooding.

I have a suggestion. Why dont you consider shipping out more beds if leftover money is enough to donate a few more

  • I bought this when we moved to a new place thinking it'll be a temporary arrangement until i can get a loft bed for the room. but man! i absolutely love it. its lightweight, easy to setup, and very sturdy (considering its made of cardboard). its been about 3 months now using the yona and i havent thought of getting the loft bed anymore. my partner and i can be both on the bed (were both on the heavy side) and the cardboard is not even breaking sweat.

    • Will it withstand tarzan-jane role play

  • Found these metal beds are more flood-damage proof and easy to transport. https://www.amazon.com.au/Zinus-SmartBase-Mattress-Foundatio…
