    Camgirls #1lens ;}

  • Good price, I paid $260 for this about a month ago. I use it for recording product walkthrough videos for work. Been pretty happy with it, the software needed a little bit off tweaking to get the picture looking it’s best (super easy if you’re familiar with basic photography).

    Why this over the Logitech Brio which also does 4K@30fps for roughly the same price?

    • It's a little hard to compare the two, as Logitech doesn't advertise all specs, but the key differences I can see are:

      • Microphone - the Logitech Brio has one (and from my experience, it's reasonably good but no match for a standalone unit), the Elgato does not.
      • Physical lens size - Brio's sensor is circa 1/4" to 1/3" (per comment in this teardown - approx 6-8mm) compared to 24mm/0.94inches edit what looks like a moderately larger one in in the Elgato.

      I can't find anything on the Logitech Brio aperture, but suspect in the best case scenario it would match the f/2.4 advertised by Elgato, but it's likely slightly worse or they'd be advertising a specific number.

      I have never used the Elgato so it's really hard to compare whether the better sensor in the Brio outweighs the far better glass of the Elgato. At a guess, I'd say that the Brio would be better for static recorded full resolution stuff (eg. uploading to Youtube), but that the Elgato would take the cake if you're doing videoconferencing that is downsampled (eg MS Teams/Zoom) and you have good lighting and an external mic.

      Brio has been good enough for me so I won't upgrade, but would be keen for any practical experience between the two.

    Imo I went for the razor kiyo Pro. Same sensor, but has a mic.

    Even if you are using a separate mic, it's nice to have the option!

    Cost is much less too.

    Also elgato, come on! This was "released" six months ago!
