Hi, I noticed the Amiga 500 is being released on April 8.
Thoughts of buying this vs just using a Raspberry Pi 4b 4GB
Amiga 500 Mini - Any Thoughts?

I was pretty excited about the Amiga until I realised the keyboard is non-functional.
I'd probably go with the Rpi but I don't have much experience in getting Amiga emulation to run on one.
Oh the keyboard is non-functional… that's uncool.
Prior devices they have done EG: The C64 Mini (Non Functional Keyboard) / The C64 (With Functional Keyboard). By their past offerings, if they sell enough of the mini they will do a full keyboard version.
You'd need a ball point pen to type with. ;)
Do you have an RPI already? If yes, just go with that imo.
Still regret my Playstation Classic.
Yes 4b with 4 GB. All setup for Mame, plus ,most home consoles. I built a Controller box, with Trackball (and spinner).
nah Id stick with RPI then.
Or a second one. Pi 400 from Core. :)
@BewareOfThe Dog: i did consider a pi 400 - and making it into a dedicated little xbox games pass streaming device on my tv - but might see if i can dig my old xbox one out of storage first.

The internal specs is a Allwinner H6 with 4x ARM Cortex-A53 @ 1.8 GHz, basically the same off-the-shelf SOC you find inside a smart TV or super-budget TV box from Aliexpress. The Rpi4 has an equally old Broadcom chip but all four of it's cores are based on Cortex A-73, so in terms of emulation performance the RPi would run rings around the Allwinner SoC.
You do not get any software included though and the Pi4 is just a board without any storage, power suppy, input devices or chassis. Really depends if you want a DIY solution that's more versatile or a dedicated emulator that's ready to play out of the box.
paying for the software licensing,
No 'Seven Cities of Gold' ???
No deal !!!
The 8 bit guy opened it up.
Where's Marble Madness? That was the poster game for the original amiga 1000 launch that had everyone drooling over the never before seen motion graphics.
Does it come with Fat Agnus?
Not sure why you got neg
Woke culture…

THEA500® Mini is compatible with hundreds of classic Amiga games and demos, utilising WHDLoad for simplicity (games must be legally obtained/purchased from the legal owners)
I wonder if I can load my collection of A500 games on it…
Are they all still on Floppy Disc? ;)
Yes 3.5" floppies :)
You may need an adapter. :)
Admittedly I was looking for it as a collectible, and thought it maybe some fun. Thanks for the feedback etc.
Am I crazy for really loving the floppy-disk themed USB drive EB Games are giving away as a preorder bonus?
Not enough to preorder one of these, of course (I'm already building a Pi-based emulation machine).Does anyone know how I can get my hands on one without preordering or buying an Amiga Mini.
I love it too, did a quick search and could not find a similar product. I am a little on the fence on this product, loved the amiga, but am low on income at the moment, but this actually might get convince me, as little as it is.
Overpriced for what it is.
You can play all of these roms and hundreds more on any computer from the last 15 years without any special hardware. 10 mins spent using Google of the Arcade rom scene will direct you to the best resources.
