I love it, but only if its not busy and there aren't any idiots who prevent me from getting something by standing in front of a particular section with their trolley for LITERALLY 2-5mins.

I so agree, the number of inconsiderate shoppers amazes me. If you had to enforce the road rules in the aisles, you'd make a fortune. The number of idiots that need to take up the whole aisle with one trolley, or abandon it sideways while they stroll down the aisle looking for something. (I like that one the most, because I car-jack the abandoned trolley while they aren't looking and dump it a couple of aisles away as payback). The worst thing I find though, is that I am clearly looking at something on a lower shelf, bent over but a couple of steps back due to ageing eyes, and they take that as an invitation to step between me and my product and procrastinate, finding what they want a couple of steps to the side, but still refusing to move.

I despise them so much that I don't even take a trolley, only a handbasket, and that's if I really need it.
What's more annoying is when two ignoramuses park their trolleys opposite each other in the same aisle causing a traffic jam.

  • I can totally relate to that .. and for that reason i sometimes like shop from the mini supermarkets… the staff there is much friendlier and i even find the prices are sometime more reasonable than the bigger supermarkets…

  • Not really so I have robots do it for me. :)

  • hahah.. u mean kids..

  • yes I do that why my son will never take me, his idea is know what you want and out you go

  • very typical of males….

Just act crazy, talk in a loud voice to yourself. I find everyone stays away lol

    • +3

LOL…I'll bet they walk away quietly saying "F'ing OzBargainers, shouldn't be allowed out in public!" ;)

      • +1

Haha classic, something like that needs to be on the Ozbargain shirt :)

  • I used to enjoy shopping when I was single; there wasn't many shopping trips I came home without at least a phone number! Sometimes I didn't even go directly home! :)

Now that I'm married the thrill has gone from supermarkets…much like Maria's son, now it's get in, grab your stuff & GTFO! ;)

      Never heard of this…

Did you get numbers from customers or staff? :/

      • Sometimes it was either/both! Ah, good times…

I'd give it a whirl if you're single Sam, it's not hard to spot the cruisers from the dedicated shoppers with a little practice. Once you do, a bit of eye contact, a smile, pay them some attention, a little smalltalk, a judicious compliment. They're easy to spot coz often they're in every aisle with very little in their trolley/basket.

Great cross-section of hook-ups too, MILFs, Soccer Mums, Cougars…and let me tell you, quite a few young cuties working at the checkouts & other depts! The supermarket is a grossly underrated dating agency!!! ;)

Are you going to start oilusive.com.au soon? :)

LOL did you look at which way their bananas were orientated in their basket to indicated their availability? (I remember I read that somewhere)

        • +2

Yeah, LOL…I've heard of that one too, not sure how it works though.

Honestly, most of these chicks were probably too busy checking out out the way my 'banana' was orientated! :p

  • i do. much more fun in person than doing it online.

  • Yes I quite like it because I love to cook/drink and find good produce

I love shopping, in a share house with all food provided now so don't shop much now, except the bottle shop… That still gets done by me!
It's always fun trying new products too. And I don't mind shopping at a different place every week, Aldi, Coles, woollies, Tasman meats.

  • I love it. I buy too much though. I drink a lot more than I eat. I love to cook and my little one doesn't eat much either. Heaps gets thrown out.

  • Despise it. and back trolley and unpacking don't mix..
Plus hate buying things u can't keep
except I guess I get to keep the kids cause I've fed them. lol.
Have tried ordering online with coles and woolworths but ends up more expensive because I have no visual on contents of trolley…and I'm not very disciplined and I have to wait days for it

I do use grocery run for non urgent items they're pretty goof to deal with.

  • Good*

  • i would say i have started enjoying doing grocery shopping online….

    • Online is more expensive though and takes any possible fun out of shopping.

I'm unsure why people don't like impulse buys etc, its fun and you can't waste money because its food.

      • Sure you can. Haven't you read the stats on how much food gets thrown out in this country, adding to landfill and generating methane? I've been guilty myself. I have thrown out stuff in the fridge that seemed like a good idea at the time, but eventually had to dispose because it was breeding fungi.

    • Maybe you could combine an online grocery with olusive.com.au (search for this on OzB). :)

      • for online grocery try 247needs.com.au

        • Are you a rep?

        • no.. but have bought stuff from them

  • have come across a couple that give you good product range and are also either free or reasonable with their delivery charges….

  • no…. crowds

  • +1

mostly yes, but i hate it when i stroll in and find the really good specials (1/2 price honey etc.) wiped off the shelves. Then i ask for a raincheck, and they take their time, checking their stock levels, checking when they have stock coming in, checking if other stores have them and calling for the supervisor… takes 1/2 an hour and i look like an idiot standing infront of newspapers.
