LG 34WP60C-B 34" WQHD 160Hz Curved Ultrawide Gaming Monitor $559 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

240

Update: The JBHIFI deal just went offline! If you'd still like to buy this monitor, I have included a link to the PC Case Gear storefront which is selling it for $599 (still a great deal)

The new standard for the budget 34" ultrawide. This is a newly released monitor (was released at the end of last year however has taken a while to come to market) using I believe the exact same panel which can be found on the famous Xiami Mi Surface 34" and DELL S3422DWG, however this time manufactured by LG and and with a higher 160Hz refresh rate.

We will have to wait on full reviews to release to see how well this monitor performs colors/response time wise however knowing LG it should have slightly superior tuning compared to it's competition.

This is a VA panel, is FreeSync compatible and is rated at 1MS MBR response time.

Worth noting it has just been released on PC CASE GEAR, however for $599: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/57435/lg-34p60c-b-uwqhd-…
This will become the best deal once the JBHIFI sale eventually ends.

Final note that this monitor is geared towards mixed productivity usage & casual gaming, if you're doing something color-work related or competitive gaming for example, I'd direct you to the 27GP850-B which is also on sale at JBHIFI at the moment for $559 and at this price is a superior option to the well known S2721DGF. This monitor is only 27", however it is IPS, 1MS GTG, 180HZ refresh rate panel with FreeSync & GSYNC compatibility. Basically what this means is it's alot faster and has alot better colors, but without the real estate that ultrawide provides.

posted and bought this last time JB hi-fi had this on sale for the same price.
so far it's been alright, speakers aren't anything to write home about but they rarely are.

I did notice that the colours seemed slightly more washed out at first compared to my old monitors but I think that was due to not having HDR turned on, or maybe it was just the sudden panel change over and I don't notice any more.

Only other complaint I have is the depth the stand takes up behind the screen, I was hoping I would get a bit more desk space and distance moving to 1 newer screen from my 2 ~10 year old monitors, but the stand force the monitor to actually sit closer to me. Might need to make/get a custom one that has vesa mounts

Keep an eye out for a monitor arm deal, I've got a xiaomi 34" and the arm has been great.

      • +2

I'm rocking a xiaomi 34" myself and it's been awesome

      • Arm suggest please. I just ordered this one and need an arm I think. Any feedback appreciated

        • I got the North Bayou F100A and I haven't had any issues.

          • @Joker042: Yes, I'd highly recommend north bayou arms if you're on a budget. If you want to get something of a higher quality eg an Ergotron arm you'll be looking at upwards of 200-300 dollars

            • @Rilez: If you need to move the arm a lot Ergotron is better and smoother.

            • @Rilez: If I have the Dell 34", would it be better buying Dell MSA20 for $160?

              • @hawkeye93: Looks like similar max weight specs - beyond that I don't really know.

          • @Joker042: Good info, thanks for that

    • Yeah the stands are atrocious on all these ultrawides.
As for colors, I have both a Xiaomi 34" and LG 27GP850 side by side and the difference is absolutely mind boggling between VA and IPS. Both have their own purposes though and they are in the same price point so it makes for a hard purchase decision, that's why I got both :P

May be check out Dell 32" IPS UHD or QHD.

absolutely mind boggling between VA and IPS.

        • That seems like an excellent deal for it's specs!

Did you mean Xiaomi VA is better or LG IPS is better?

            I assume is IPS, right?

            • @superforever: IPS most definitely

              • +1

@Rilez: That is what I thought because you said this that is why I am wondering.

I'm rocking a xiaomi 34" myself and it's been awesome

                • @superforever: Yeah but unfortunately, the entry price for IPS ultrawides right now (anywhere from $1250-1500) that still remain 144HZ+ which is an absolute essential is just too much for the majority of people, that's why I strongly recommend the LG 27GP850 or even the Dell 4K IPS you linked if you're not after the 21:9 aspect ratio.

                    @Rilez:

the entry price for IPS ultrawides right now

I am currently using LG 34" Flat FHD IPS, after years of using ultrawide I may want to try 32" UHD (not for gaming) because of extra height instead of extra wide.

The Dell UHD is good but over $8xx is a bit too much for a monitor for me.

                    • @superforever: 32" 4K at 175Hz is really a dream all-usage monitor and has around the same real-estate as a 34" ultrawide, just in a different orientation (extra vertical & horizontal space compared to only horizontal on the UW) You could use it for anything and it would perform excellently.

You will struggle to find a better deal then the Dell, however considering you said you won't be doing any gaming the 165Hz will be less important to you. You would be best to look for a 32" 4K with a lower 60Hz refresh rate instead from either Dell or LG (these typically hover between $400-600)

                      • @Rilez: 32" UHD IPS still quite expensive even 60Hz.

                        • @superforever: Which ones have you been looking at?

                          • @Rilez: Don't have any particular, like LG or Dell or Samsung.

400-500 range mostly are VA panel.

                      • @Rilez: I've got a 27" Dell 1440p. Would this be an upgrade for productivity/work from home?

                        • @bisaya: Absolutely, do you have a secondary monitor? You could get the 32" 4K and run it side by side with your current 27" 1440p although they wouldn't line up since they are different heights if that would be a bother to you.

                          • +1

@Rilez: Not sure I have the deskspace to have 27" and 34" so will have to be 1 or the other :(

                            • @bisaya: 100% a 34" WQHD or 32" 4K UHD then if you can only have one monitor. It is a hard choice between the two though :P

See you want extra wide or extra height.

                            • @bisaya: Personally though, I'd choose the ultrawide

  • Is the 27GP850-B really worth the price premium over the s2721dgf? rtings reviews for both place them almost even across all tests and the 2721dgf was just $430 with the afterpay deal last week.
    https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s2721dgf
    https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/27gp850-b

    • When the s2721dgf is priced in that area which it is fairly frequently I would agree that it is definitely the best value option, however when it's sitting at its standard price of $520 the LG would become a no brainer. It's worth mentioning that although they have identical panels the LG is better tuned in terms of color calibration (the Dell has oversaturation issues), a 180Hz refresh rate, a better OSD interface (although this isn't that much important) and a few other minor things.

Do these make the LG worth an extra $100+? Nah I don't think so but if you're not looking to save money the LG would still be considered the slightly better monitor overall.

It's worth taking a look at Hardware Unboxed's reviews on both of these monitors as they do an excellent job there, RTINGS which you linked provide some great info also

1800R for anyone else wondering. Surprisingly hard to find, not even sure if it's correct or just some copy-paste job from other curved monitors.

Bout it last week using the AfterPay discount and 5% JB Hifi discount cards from Aami. Net cost was $506. Loving it so far.

    • Glad you're enjoying it

BTW price showing as $699 when I click the link in the post…!!

    • You're right, it did not last very long hahaha. Must've caught it a bit late, PC Case Gear is selling it for $599 though!

Bought one yesterday but found my unit has a few lines of Pixels on the bottom of the screen facing downwards which makes them appear black at a normal viewing angle (this I a complaint in the reviews as well). Curious if anyone else who bought this has had the same problem.

Deciding whether to take it back and replace or just try a different ultrawide.

    • +1

Yep having the exact same issue. Still tossing up if I take it back.
