Do You Forget All The Stuff You Buy Online?

And get surprised when you get it in the mail?

Or even more surprised(like me) when you log into you aliexpress account for the first time in 15 months and realise the last two items I paid for never arrived.

I’m feeling a bit silly, surely it’s not just me.

Ordered a item from blitzwolf alixpress, they told me would take 1-2months to post and was listed in stock in AU by mistake.
I realised like 6months later never came.. and the alixpress message was gone and couldnt dispute it.
50bucks gone from being to busy in life.

    • That is me, I only ordered because of ShopBack bonus and aliexpdess has low value stuff to trigger a $2/$3 bonus. But yea the delivery times are so long I ended up forgetting too

I keep a spreadsheet of all my online purchases (and any other significant purchases). I have 3 columns: date, amount and comments/description. When I buy something I'll add it to the spreadsheet and highlight it with a note saying either click and collect or awaiting arrival. When the item arrives or has been picked up, I will remove the highlight. This way I can quickly look at the spreadsheet and see what items are outstanding. I also have a tally at the bottom of the amount column and I'm up to circa $36k since I started buying stuff online about 2 years ago

    • Amazing dedication, life admin is overwhelming me to start something like that for my discretionary spending

      • as soon as I buy something I put a calendar reminder 2 weeks later saying "where is XYZ item"

Only when I choose free shipping when ordering from China.

Haven’t done this with online but I went to a wine tasting and when I picked up the order, a week later, I realised that this wasn’t what I’d ordered and the prices were different. When I looked at the label on the box it was the same winery but it was an order from two years earlier that I’d forgotten to pick up, They found the box, with my name on it, and handed it across; I had to go back for the later order as well.

If you use Gmail you can snooze the order email in estimate time say 3 weeks for AliEpxress then that email will come back to remind you, if you need more time you can snooze again.

  • I am sorry to inform you, but unfortunately it's terminal. You have dementia.

There is a medication that can help, but it does come with a risk of quite exciting side effects…

That's the meds for Parkinsons. Another side effect is more impulsive shopping!
There aren't any meds for dementia.

  • I forget what I purchased the previous day, however I know when I'm expecting parcels. So yes everytime I receive a parcel, it's a guessing game for what I'm getting. It's very exciting until I remember I purchased something mundane.

  • Yes and aliexpress is best example for this mate

But generally speaking i now ensure to keep track of parcels.

  • Yes and it's a nice present to myself when things arrive.

It's rare things haven't arrived - but most of the time they are low value things anyway.

  • Quite often.

Since AliExpress has gone to combined shipping I get multiple purchases in 1 parcel and it's like Christmas as I try to remember why I ordered the same fittings and cables from more than 1 seller.

i don't like how AusPost sends you a mail like "Your Item is on the way" but doesn't say who posted it…

    • Same. I get all excited for something I'm looking forward to, and then it's a cheap piece of junk I bought from China 2 months ago and had forgotten about :(

  • I deal with Moran companies that take pre order's nearly 12 mths in advance .

  • I keep a list of all the things i buy online and the estimated arrival time.
