I don't see any racism here [maldrat], your comment wasn't called for. He hasn't made disparaging remarks about the Vietnamese people. He has expressed an opinion that he wouldn't eat this product of Vietnam. I agree, there is a distinct difference in flavour in recipes for products made for Asian and Australian markets. They each have their local palates and cater to them by using local ingredients. Being used to local Tim Tams, an Australian trying an imported one will usually gag in disgust. The recipe is so different to what we are used to; we are used to using cane sugar for instance, and that may be substituted with corn sugar or palm sugar or treacle etc. in other markets. The biscuit is different. The chocolate is different. The cream filling is different. The taste and texture is completely alien to us. Then there are concerns about hygiene and food standards, I would be wary of anything with beef products from a "mad cow" country or milk from China (remember the milk being adulterated with melamine scandal?) Just because you prefer a quality German built car to a cheap Skoda doesn't make you racist to the country who built the economy car. It's preference. Just be careful not to pull the trigger too fast and unnecessarily accuse someone of "racism".

        That's the main reason..

    • I didnt get to see the personal attacks… strangely enough..
I'm vietnamese…. and have seen how things are made over in Vietnam….

I have a real beef with Oreos..

They are so so so so bad in Australia…

the signature slogan is twist lick dunk..

Australia oreos, you can only twist and dunk.. the cream is so hard and stale..

In USA, the cream is soft which makes it SO MUCH BETTER…

Oreo's in US are the best.. Australian one's just don't cut it…

    • Well Taiwan and Japan get the same as Australia so at least we are not the only country getting screwed with low quality Oreos.

Maybe the USA Oreos are made in USA and the Australian Malaysia or Vietnam?

Personally I don't know why you would buy biscuits from Asia…

Maybe the USA Oreos are made in USA and the Australian Malaysia or Vietnam?

From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oreo#Production): "Much of current Oreo production is done at the Kraft/Nabisco factory in Richmond, Virginia. Oreo cookies for the Asian markets are manufactured in Indonesia, India and China. Oreo cookies for Europe are made in Spain."

          Well there you go.

You know why they taste better now.

        • The Oeros here at my local supermarket are all made in China sadly, I would love to try a made in USA one :(

    • +2

Totally agree. I recall buying Made in USA Oreos in Australia a few years ago, but now they seem to be made in Indonesia (or wherever — it's been a long time since I've bought them) and the quality is distinctly worse.

They are all made in CHINA

    • +9

Twist, break, crumbs bloody everywhere, dunk leftovers? Not the same kinda ring to it…. :/

    • +2

Oreos sold in Australia are made in China, that's why. :/

Interesting.. I gotta try the US ones now.
I know USA Foods import them. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

  • I always wondered why them yanks like their Oreos so much since the ones I got here are pretty crappy. Didn't realise there's a difference. I shall withdraw my opinion of the superiority of the Tim Tam Slam for now until I try the real US stuff.

    • don't get me wrong, tim tams are amazing.. but its hard to compare.. oreos in US are super addictive.. probably can eat more oreos then tim tams.. but not by much.. both are quite rich and addictive..

      • at 4.20 I noticed that the 2 trays of Tim Tams I demolished did the job quite well, suffice the real craving was some traditional oreos…

  • Hey guys i have a pack of these oreo double stuffed in the cupboard. It says they are made in spain. Im not sure if this helps or not. Would u guys prefer a spanish oreo or an asian one?

  • +1

The double stuff are made in spain and therefore have a much softer cream. once i had the double stuff i never went back to the crappy made in china ones. I hope the spanish ones stay on. I have a feeling they will eventually revert to the china crap again

  • oh yeah usa oreos are the best hands down

  • Some time ago I bought oreos from reject shop that were made in USA. must say they tasted better than the ones at coles :/

    • I bought those reject shop ones too. Mine tasted & smelt of naphthalene. I was very ill after eating a few, & returned the other packets. Mostly so I could let them know I thought there was a health issue. They were not at all interested.

      • +1

You know what moth balls taste like? I think you have bigger issues than Oreos.

        • LOL! Well, I think I do now! They taste like they smell. Nasty! :D

      • Maybe you have a weak stomache, i'm so sorry :(

  • The Double Stuff Oreos in Australia are made in Spain.
Why are Oreo's for Australia made in Asia?
    - Importing them from the US would price them out of the market
    - Importing them from the US would cut into the best before date
    - Australians cry about prices and wages so much, the only alternative is to manufacture in low cost countries

    • +1

the only alternative is to manufacture in low cost countries

The US is a 'low cost' country at the moment…

      • We Australians need the lowest cost country so we can get the cheapest crap.

  • Sample is good but I wouldn't personally buy it, the cream is quite hard, not soft at all :(

  • I want the USA made ones…
They are in a whole different taste to the Oz sold ones…
Why should we be second class citizens and have to settle for the chinese ones..

I called 1800 033 275 the Oreo hotline and asked why and the lady said it would be to do with company profits.. Pretty honest answer I must say lol…

You Guys should all call and complain as well.. Someone might get the message…!!!
