    Kumho ES31 195/65R15 91V - $125.00 normal, $87.00 with discount.
Price on Tyresales $122, Tyroola $124

    • Good price. Be interesting to see how many cars on 15" rims considering best selling cars are all SUVs or Utes.

Kia Piccanto base versions are 14" rims.

      • Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3 to name a few…

        • LOL just googled that my corolla hybrid sedan 2021 runs on this size.

    • Great deal, the same tyre in 175/65R15 is $101.

I was pretty annoyed with Mycar with the Black Friday promo.

They could not supply the tyres I ordered, asked me to reschedule for a few weeks later. Then a day before the rescheduled date they told me it's still not available and to keep waiting/choose the worser Pirelli - I chose to keep waiting.

Then the store had the audacity to call me and imply that they were not going to deal with me if I kept delaying as if it was my fault they couldn't get their shit together…

Some outlets are better than others.

Dealing with South Melbourne would've put me off for life had I not already dealt with a different outlet before.

      • Any recommendations for outlet in S.E Melbourne that are good to deal with?

        • +2

I've found both Hartwell and Windsor really good to deal with in the past.

        • +2

Chadstone - manager /owner there is a super nice guy. Haven't dealt with them much (just some roadworthy certs) but have been impressed with the great service.

During Black Friday Pirelli tyre deal. MyCar Preston gave me two tyres of the ones I ordered, and two more of a older, different model because "they didnt have any more stock" - without asking or telling me. Then tried to convince me it was the same despite different costs. I even picked a MyCar store 12km away because my local ones didn't have stock online on the website.

Took 2 weeks to rectify and at some point was told "no more stock for 6 months". Then when I asked for my money back and to put my old tires back on (which he initially agreed), suddenly he found some stock. Brought my car back there for the 3rd time to finally resolve the issue and they were annoyed at me for asking to get what I paid for. At no point did I receive any apologies.

I would stay away from MyCar's "promotions". I'm not even convinced they did the logbook servicing right - which is more expensive than a regular servicing.

      Negative Vote
Purpose: To let others know about issues with the deal, merchant or product.

      • +2

Rule #1. Always check to make sure they physically have the stock there. So many times I had customers coming to us from a couple of local stores that tried to talk them into something else once the car was in there.
Rule #2. No one does log book servicing properly. That's what your 2nd year apprentices are for in these franchise or dealer stores. 90% of it is just a visual inspection, with the rest merely being an oil and filter change, maybe an air filter occasionally. It really is money for nothing!
You really shouldn't have to, but due diligence is required nowadays. My advice to everyone for piece of mind, take you car to a long standing, family owned/operated business.

    • I had no problem at all with that promo, bought 9 tyres in the sizes I want, easy to book the date/time I wanted too. Can highly recommend Mt. Gambier MyCar

    • I'm SEQ, 3 mycar I have deal with are good, one even allow to put two front tyre first and the second a month later, kinda hate they upsell the wheel alignment though lol

  • Thanks, good deal, need tyres!

    • Bought 4 tyres, great deal!

  • Perfect timing. Thanks heaps.

Does kumho have an equivalent to the serenity plus?

    • +10

      Yep. Serenity Now.

  • As general advice Ask for the date code on the tyre you are getting. Not saying OP is selling old tyres as such but it's something to look out for.

    • What so new and unused tyres can go old ?

      • +4

They can if they're very old.

MyCar are a national franchise. Anecdotal assessment I'd say Kumho are their most commonly discounted product. I think it's pretty unlikely they'll have much stock that's been sitting around for very long.

      • What so new and unused tyres can go old ?

They are made from rubber, and rubber perishes over time so yes.

  • +4

MyCar put one of my Pirelli tyres on backwards

  • Can get price beat at Bob Jane.

    • +1

      Flybuys points though ;)

      • Seriously? That's funny money though. Wayyy better to have real money savings. FlyBuys will barely giving you 0.5% cashback, with limited redemption opportunities.

        • Match BJ, get Flybuys, use at grocery store as real money!

          • @Snoop: BJ is more expensive, what is there for MyCar to match? Redeeming fancy points for groceries is still funny money.

    • +1

Cant if the tyres are listing as "limited' stock. Tend to find most their tyre besides the over priced ones are NOT IN STOCK.. this deal is border line clickbait just to grab customers and potential sell them other more expensive tyre

      • They had more than enough stock of the tyres I need. Admittedly I only need two & they have four left but still, they had enough.

  • I see that they are offering free wheel balancing every 6 months? Is it worth? Or do every other provides gives this option? Thanks.

    • +1

Indeed, + free tyre rotation, whatever helps to survive litter longer… If it is due, I book when I need to visit a shopping centre on weekends. AND yes, local service mechanic do provide such services too when you go for logbook service.

    • Depends if you hit slot of potholes or curbs

    • +2

balancing should be done when tyres are fitted.
wheel alignment is different and done when you notice uneven/unusual wear on your tyres, steering pulling to one side etc

  • How do these compare to Continental for an SUV? The last tyres I purchased from Mycar were Continentals and they have been a little fast wearing.

    • +1

Generally Conti is considered a superior brand

    • depends on what you value more in a tyre…grip or longer life. same for all tyre brands.

      • Grip is more important as will be doing a few trips up to Hotham and Buller. Mycar have the Crugen premium for my SUV. There seems to be a few reviews mentioning they aren't the best in wet and snow conditions. The Kumho KL33 is $213 on sale, or I could go the Continental TC6 for $265, so it's not a massive difference overall.

        • +1

stick with the contis if you were happy with their performance.

for me, longevity is nice but safety is more important. i run ecocontacts on my car and other people are surprised i need tyres so frequently lol. but since they're the oem tyre and few other manufacturers make tyres for the specific tyre profile i'm after; price isn't ridiculous and i like their feel and wet-weather performance.

  • after entering my number plate, there is only one option for Kumho Tyres for my Mazda 6.

  • Unfortunately, cannot find Kumho Tyres 205/55R16

  • combine with these to get maximum discount

  • -1

Dont waste time they dont have time of half the stuff.I ordered through https://www.ozzytyres.com.au/ lot cheaper.

    • Yep this is classic ClickBait for them.. thats why they have a clause that u have to have the tyres fitted by certain date to get the discount…

    • I ordered through https://www.ozzytyres.com.au/ lot cheaper.

      They include fitting/balance and disposal?

    • Ozzy Tyres and their 60% OFF sales! LoL.

  • I’ve had good experiences with mycar sylvania. Bought a set of kumho ht51’s with a price beat and taken advantage of the 6 monthly rotation to get a 80k warranty. About 45k in so far and no issues.

Save 100% on Kumho tyres by buying a brand that aren't trash instead. Tyres are almost the most important safety component on your car and you get what you pay for. Pay the extra and get a decent set of Bridgestones, Michelins or Continentals and commute yourself and your family in safety.

    • +5

Maybe look into some comparisons, Kumho’s are really good tyres.

      • -1

Driven plenty of cars with Kumhos and was not impressed, especially in the wet. Drive something with a set of Michelin PS4s back to back and you'll see what I mean.

        • +3

Depends what you're driving and how you drive.

    • +3

Kumho are a perfectly good Korean produced, mid-range tyre made. I sold them in retail for many years; I've had several sets on different cars of my own over time; and they actually come O.E. on some nice mid-level vehicles.
As for the brands you mentioned, yeah I have Michelin Cup2 on my performance car, it came with Conti 5P… they were crap. And most I know with the same car hate them too. Michelin and Pirelli also have more budget orientated lines made in China. Honestly, I'd rather put a Kumho or Hankook or similar on that have similar or better road handling characteristics for less money than some of these tyres.
Yes, whilst Mich, Pirelli, Conti, do produce some of the best road tyres in world, it really is 'horses for courses'. And unless you're purchasing their marque patterns and matching them to a suitably applicable vehicle, you may very well be wasting your money for a name.

      • What’s the real deal with wheel alignments which they push pretty hard.

Are they really legit or just a profit center that is doing quickly and not too carefully?

        • +2

Depends. If you're lucky enough to have driven the past couple of years without knocking the front end slightly, then you're all good. But in many cases, it doesn't take much. I've noticed that my van is wearing the front pass side a little on the outside edge. If left unchecked / aligned, and depending how far out, you could destroy it in just a couple months. You'd be pretty pissed if your new tyres were stuffed in a few months time.
Look, it's piece of mind I guess. But if the steering wheel isn't out, the vehicle doesn't pull to one side, and the tyres have worn evenly, you don't have to worry. Just as long as you keep an eye for even wear across the tread.

      • +2

Kumho is now owned by a chinese tyre manufacturer and now their tyres are made in China. Bought a pair of Kumhos recently and noticed the quality has gone down. No point paying the brand premium anymore.

        • I got some tyres on this deal and the tyres where all made in Korea if that helps anyone.

    • I drove in the sydney floods without skidding in full Korean tyres including the OEM ones from delivery date which is pretty good. Yes they slip a bit if you arent gentle with the acceleration in the beginning from a complete stop at a light but nothing major like splits from accidentally running a pothole gently

      • That's what happened to me. Split my brand new Kumhos from Tempe Tyres which was the first time I had chinese made tyres. My previous Kumhos all lasted at least 4 years. Regret not going to MyCar which has 12 mths road hazard warranty. No chance of warranty from the Tempe mob.

  • Doesn't Kumho own Mycar? German tyre reviews are not positive about PS71. Durability last and braking very poor.

  • Price matched at Bob Jane, $141.3 per corner for 225/50 17 PS71s.

  • Kumhos on the 2017 Mazda 3 awesome kumhos on the 2017 Tucson F,ing useless poc all over the road , on the original tyres worn out felt better than the kumhos

    • I've got a 2017 Tucson. Thanks for the heads up. I'll stay clear of the Kumho's. Currently have Conti's on mine and seem to be pretty good.

  • How do you pronounce this brand name? It sounds NSFW.

    • +2

      Kooo mo

    • -4

Ask your mum, she knows all about it

    • +1

Yea I was gonna ask? Because if I was to talk to a dealer about. So is it? Cum-Hoe? Coom- mo? Coome-hoe? It's confusing.

  • Ended up having to call them to make booking other side of town for van tyres (KC53 195r15). There was only 2 in stock and managed to get last two for $194 supplied and fitted.

Also had bad experience with Pirelli Black Friday sale as they couldn't get stock in my size. (185/65/15).
