Advice for Current Predicament - Recourse for Subpar Blinds Installation

I had external blinds installed earlier this year (cc payment up front approx $16k) from a well known national company, and the installation was quite poor (see mspaint diagram: https://imgur.com/uirCI2E). Of the 9 blinds installed, there are issues with all of them.

The company agreed to book in a re-work session the following month as they needed to order custom replacement parts from their supplier.

Unfortunately the re-work that was supposed to be yesterday was cancelled on the day as the replacement parts ordered were "damaged". It will now take another month to reorder the same parts.

I'd like to get some advice on my options if they continue this delay tactic.

Is a cc charge back an option? VCAT possibly? I could leave a scathing review, but that might result in them being reluctant to come and repair the job.

    9 blinds for $16k i would want them absolutely perfect! Over $1,700 per blind?! I would use that as a leverage point, do you have a contact there, I would be looking to threaten some of the above actions. Firstly the scathing review and depending on response to that the VCAT option. Threats are all you are going to be able to do, realistically VCAT is going to take a lot longer than the 1 month and they'll have them fixed by then.

      Yeah I'm in the wrong business if I could be making 16k a day installing lopsided blinds.

      VCAT apparently has extensive delays atm (anywhere up to 18 months).

    How many quotes did you get initially.

    Was the installer blind or a blind installer?

    • 4 quotes. They were at the site from 9-6:30pm once finished they were in a hurry to leave.

      The the blinds are quite large and motorised.

    Hope you haven't paid in full OP or there's a good chance they may try to drag it out until you give up in frustration.

    I've seen a similar case like this where excuses were offered for over a year as the buyer had paid in full before the job had been completed to their satisfaction.

    By the time buyer went to take action the original 'tradies' who were subbies to the company had disappeared.

  • No choice unfortuantely. Had to pay in full the day prior to installation.

    Never again tbh. But they are a large company so very little chance they will go under.

    Are you talking roller shutters?

    • Similar but have material mesh instead of aluminium slats

        I take it you mean motorized cafe blinds or similar.
