How much is 100gms of "Baking Soda and Peroxide Colgate Toothpaste" elsewhere? Coles? Woolies? etc?

  • +5

hopefully it's not the terrible parallel import from Thailand / southeast Asia stuff

  • +2

And is it Australian toothpaste, or the Vietnamese/similar rubbish?

    • +1

Hi Mic no it isnt viet or thai product, it is Australian packaging from Australian wholesaler same as what goes into IGA and other supermarkets.
      Thanks

      • Actually, I know for a fact that Woolies sells some colgate toothpaste that comes from Africa.
It does not taste good and has a 'weird' feel to it. This product is also imported from an Australian wholesaler

        BUYER BEWARE!

  • Hi, the toothpaste is $5.41 each in coles and the toothbrushes are $5.20 each
Total value including $6 postage to buy at supermarket price would be $48.00
No it is not imported products and is exactly as pictured.
    Thanks
    Julie

Exactly as pictured = 2 toothbrushes, 5 tubes of toothpaste.

Exactly as described = 2 toothbrushes, 6 tubes of toothpaste.

      Which is correct?

      • Hi The as pictured was responding to the packaging not the products in the offer.
The offer is as states 6 tubes of toothpaste and 2 brushes same as pictured.
        Regards
        Julie

Julie - your web site says RRP $36.00

  • -3

    rip off

If you are happy with regular Colgate toothpaste you can buy the same amount for under $12 from coles - not even on special. Add two toothbrushes @ $5 and you come out ahead buying in store.

Not even sure if Australia stocks that kind of toothpaste? I can't imagine it being a big seller - "Baking Soda and Peroxide", more like "Advanced Whitening with Micro Crystals". Please post a link if we do.

    • +2

So you can buy a different product for a different amount? Thanks for taking the time to post that particular piece of consumer wisdom.

      • Sorry Mic. I was providing a comparison for people to evaluate the perceived savings.

Can you please provide a link to a retailer that sells the "Baking Soda and Peroxide" Colgate as Woolworths and Coles do not. Thanks Mic.

        • Saying "you can buy a different product for less" is not, under any normal English usage of the word, a "comparison".

Can you please provide a link to a retailer that sells the "Baking Soda and Peroxide" Colgate as Woolworths and Coles do not. Thanks Mic.

        • You seem to be confusing me with a rep, probably as part of your attempt to confuse the issue as much as possible, given your complete lack of a sensible contribution so far. "Hey, this thing is less than this other different thing!"

          I don't give a rats if you can't find a link to a retailer.

        • Shaw: Not the same and "Seller's Country: United States"

    • Easy to find go to colgate Australia website and you can read all about the product and what results you should get from using it.

    • +1

      not much of a deal
and i cant find this product on the colgate australia website
      http://www.colgate.com.au/app/Colgate/AU/OC/Products/Toothpa…
You can get a pack of three of the same toothbrush for $4.50

        • +2

yeah that look exactly like the product in this post

        • Not the same.

        • Well, if this makes you happy:

          http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:Um2U6Eq…

          It seems to be discontinued.

        • +1

Yep, I think it's discontinued. I have bought the same product at supermarkets several times in the past, it's a decent enough product but nothing to write home about. If you just want squeaky clean teeth (literally) it's fine! ;)

Colgate change their product lines so often in the toothpaste market, so I'm not surprised haven't seen it for ages. It'll probably come back again in a few months!

      • umm.. so guys, is OP's baking soda/peroxide the same as the advanced whitening yadidah that we can buy at coles/woolies?

i appreciate that there's someone pointing out a different product can be bought cheaper, but i'm pretty keen on getting something in the advanced whitening series.

  • +1

    Who cares.

Its toothpaste made in Thailand. Why would buy it from there when you get it made here for the same price if not cheaper.

    • +3

The rep says (above) "it isnt viet or thai product, it is Australian packaging from Australian wholesaler same as what goes into IGA and other supermarkets."

Where's your evidence that you've got for calling them a liar, and where can it be bought cheaper? (For the same product, not a completely different product, as suggested by the brainbox above.)

      • +2

The toothpaste is made in Thailand.
Might be Australian packaging for Australian wholesaler but still made in Thailand.
Get your fact right before you start acting like a smart donkey

        • For me tooth paste is tooth paste.

  • +13

ROFLMFAO, seriously…fighting over a toothpaste deal on a Sunday…WTF has become of OzB??? :o

The simple mathematical fact is that the OP is offering 8x items that would normally cost over $3 each (bare minimum) at any supermarket for $2.37 each with free shipping. If it's worth it to you, buy it; if not, just quit bellyaching & get on with your lives!

  • +3

Proving evidence of a similar product with the same usefullness imho is a valid reason to neg a post.

  • (In best Maude Flanders voice): Please, won't somebody think of the children!

    • What if you have 7 kids? Or three that need a new toothbrush? :)

  • I had a quick look and I can't find this product cheaper anywhere else, this is cheap. An individual tube of paste is $3.39 at it's cheapest I could see.

The packaging on the toothpaste also seems to be unique, Colgates website and several others show a slightly different packaging. Might be this picture is old and is just useful for demonstration purposes.
