Bed Threads Linen = Lint CENTRAL

Has anyone else bought Bed Threads in the last 12mo and found they are very poor quality? They shed lint like nobodys business, its driving me absolutely insane. I know they are on the cheaper end of linen but its seriously atrocious. Maybe i got a bad batch but its honestly appalling. Wondering if anyone has similar experiences or if im just going insane.

Cheers

  • I found the same, but bought in late 2020.

  • We've covered both beds to BL linen and use our one nightly. No issues. Really like the feel.
Got white if that makes any difference.

  • Yup, terrible. Lint city. Also, have holes developing in mine near the elastic on the fitted sheet, only had them maybe 6 months? I'll try Sheet Society next time.

  • We have been using BT linen for six months now and have no complaints at all - still lov ethem.
We are careful to only wash in cold water on gentle cycle - and do so most weeks.

  • I've had the olive queen set for over a year and I haven't had any problems

  • Just washed a set today and fitted moments ago. Jumping on this thread to give my initial impressions and things I noticed.

    • Loose threads, not a big deal but the buttons on the quilt cover kept catching on a thread. Happened on about half the buttons, not a good sign.
    • I hate buttons. I don't know why, but I should have scrutinised the quilt closing mechanism more in my research. What got me was the current bundle discount deal. Sheet society uses a zipper.
    • Fitted sheet - elastic is the cheap thin scrunchy kind. I actually bought one from sheet society a week beforehand and that has a huge fat band that made putting it on super easy. Haven't put the bed threads one on yet, can't comment on that aspect.
    • Pillowcases - slightly bigger than all my previous ones and the flap is not deep enough. This together means the pillowcase is essentially open on one end all the time.
    • Noticed a lot of hair or white fibers sticking after a wash today - don't think it came from anywhere as there are no people or pets around that could leave white. Strange, the sheet is Ink (dark navy blue). Don't know if this is a sign of lint to come.

I guess the marketing went to my head. Some of you may understand the weakness that is discounts.

At the time, sheet society had no discounts/sales going but now they do (for one more day). Sadly their navy blue is nowhere near as dark as bed thread's Ink colour. I love the colour.

Does anyone have any comments about sheet society linen? Or abode?

Abode was the third place I looked at but they are super expensive and some are made in Melb, so it's understandable. $500+ for a single quilt cover vs $380 for my bed threads bundle. Maybe one day i'll be rich enough for that kind of splash.

    • hey mate, any updates on your bedthreads experience? mine is still terrible, i can only imagine my sheets will eventually melt into nothing haha

      • Still bad as well, I need to wash it more. Which colour did you get? Seems like their website says darker colours will shed more.

I have had zero issues with my sheet society fitted bed sheet which was also a navy blue, just not as dark.

        • same for me, and ive washed it countless times. ive given up hope itll ever stop shedding. im looking at if i got linen again or if i just go get some ikea sheets and just live in a lint free world.

i find putting it in the dryer helps suck up some lint. though it probably breaks it down more as well. win-lose

  • I also get a lot of lint with bed threads linen set (smoke grey).

I have purchased sheet society linen sheets (charcoal), but the fitted sheet has worn through in the middle (not from anything fun either).

Still looking for something better at an affordable price.

    • i might just give up and go for kmart cotton haha. it really doesnt seem worth it to spend hundreds and end up with potentially a product absolutely worse than getting basic cotton sheets
