Not a historically low price on this, but a decent price on this popular router.
Futu and Digilife has the same price before discount $628

Same, doesn't look to be coming to australia yet?
Without PoE this seems like a big miss.. I wanted this to replace my Cloud Key/USG/Switch, but this would only replace my USG and Cloud Key :\
I guess it depends on pricing tho, the dm se is quite significantly more expensive in the US. It's cheaper to get a PoE switch unless u want other features of the se. Or a poe injector is another cheap option. Performance is the same.
Where is the u6-pro….. Want that one next
Is there, you just have to search for it - pclan had it for $299 before discount
Ubiquity have had so much potential over the last 8 years but have failed to deliver on all major Unifi promises.
I've been running Edge and Unifi gear for the last 8 years and they are still yet to provide the feature to configure local DNS without some serious workarounds.
As far as I'm concerned their only real solid offering is in their exceptionally performing WiFi.
I'll probably be considering Mikrotik for future hardware.
What’s a good runner up to this? The price tag is a bit beyond my budget
The vanilla UDM? Last I checked, it was going for sub $380. U sacrifice significant performance and ports, but it actually has wifi, albeit wifi 5.
Help me out here. As someone that still uses the ISP provided Netcomm router, but want to expand wifi and incorporate more room sockets and Poe cameras, when you say reduced performance can you elaborate on this?
Should I also be futureproofing my purchases for wifi6?
By that I meant the UDM Pro has significantly better downlink throughput and faster processing power. But since most of us have sub gigabit internet, it doesn't really matter as much. The UDM Pro incorporates a HDD bay for NVR for their proprietary UnifiProtect camera system but neither of them have PoE, so you'll need a PoE switch or PoE injector for your cameras.
And yes, I'd definitely recommend wifi 6 nowadays, they have come down in cost significantly. But the UDM is still a very capable wifi 5 router, you might just find yourself happy with it until you can turn off its wifi function and get some wifi 6 APs. It should remain your security gateway and cloud key for years to come though.
@rookie317: Thanks loads for this.
Where can you get the non pro UDM for $380?
It has been before. Guess you've gotta keep an eye out for it?
@rookie317: I see. I thought you currently saw it for $380 somewhere.
Thought this was a mattress deal by the look of it…
