Zip Account Fee for End of Month Purchase

Wondering if this is ever happened to anyone

I’ve been using Zip for year or two and I’ve never been slugged an account fee.
I always paid off at least once a week
I’ve done many purchases at the end of the month that carried over to the next month and I’ve never been charged an account fee

however I’ve been charged a fee at the beginning of February and again at the beginning of March
I queried the one in February and they refunded that one but they did not refund the March one because I did a purchase on the second last day of February and it got processed within 24 hours by the merchant and it became the closing balance. I had zero balance before that purchase

so to understand correctly am I right in saying that if you do purchase for example late on the last day of the month and you go to sleep and the purchase has been processed by the merchant before midnight you’ll get charged and account fee for that purchase ?

very sneaky of Zip to do that

  • What is the closing balance for Jan? You have to pay the whole or more off by 28 Feb. It does not matter what you spent in Feb.

    I realise that Zip introduced a minimum amount for each month. It seems to be $80 or the balance for me.

    Senario one: no balance for Jan, $70 spend in Feb. It seems you have to pay off the $70 by 28 Feb now (as opposed to previously by 31 Mar). Maybe you fall in it? Yes, you did.

  • zip are just shady (profanity). i made one purchase on zip, paid it off on time and didn't use it for a week or two after, at which point i was buying something on amazon and saw that they accepted zip pay, so i made the purchase and that was that. next day, i saw that i had an email from amazon saying my purchase had failed or something along those lines, i went to check it out and eventually figured out it was because my zip account had been suspended, i sent an email to them asking why, and they replied saying it was for some bullshit like "security purposes" and wanted me to send them a picture of my license (i think both sides) to re-enable my account, i told them that was ridiculous as i had already verified my license with them to create my account (just the license number) and i would not be doing it, and to cancel my account.

    never had such problems with afterpay. same verification process, same purchasing habits (all paid off on time), the only thing is that amazon does not accept them as a payment method, unfortunately.
