Best price I've seen in past deals. Good for keeping modem/router going during short blackouts.

I think it will run my 65" TV with internet and Google TV for ~20 minutes.

  • Reading the specs…
    capacity - 360w
run time at full load - 1 minutes
    half load - 8 minutes
    recharge - 8 hours

What would you use it for?

Usually to safely shutdown a NAS or something to avoid data loss/corruption.

      • I have a 12 year old APC BackUPS Pro (on its 2nd battery) with USB connection to our NAS, gently shuts down NAS if power goes out. A good UPS is worth every cent…

      • +1

Or avoid shutting down at all when it's one of those power interruptions that's just enough to reset all your equipment…

Search the wattage of devices you want to power. A modem is about 6-12 watts. Tv is ~95 watts.

Add them together and look on here for run time:

      • yep it's that simple!

In the real world, UPS delivers ~70,% of quoted capacity. So these would have ~250w.

    • +1

8 minutes to finish off before having to dip into mobile data 🤔

    • +1

Enough to watch the p.hub video, clean up & goto bed.

What would you use it for?

      Security cameras

      • This.

I use it for my home alarm system, and for my modem which has saved my ass a few times when recording podcast , as the mains power went out

  • Surge protection?

    • For that you buy a surge protector.
Guess its OK for short power blips to keep your router going.

      • Or a serge protector?

  • Without eBayPlus use PLSMAR5 and save $4.45

Good for an electric garage opener so you can still operate it during a blackout.

$69 so you don't have to do the manual override once every 3 year?

    • A lot of garage opener support a regular lead acid battery so won't require a full UPS. Lead acid Battery would be cheaper

    • garage opener so you can still operate it during a blackout

Won't work as well as you think. These devices aren't particularly efficient, and as they are designed to push out high power, they'll consume a fair amount of power even when running with no load, which will flatten the battery - probably in an hour or so.

Also, UPS have a "replace battery by…" sticker. The batteries wear out. This is often the reason they go on sale with some suppliers, I don't know about this supplier, so buyer beware.

  • I looked through the rest of the UPS offerings and even after ebay discount I could do better elsewhere.

    • Any recommendations?
Looking for something with 2 outlets for NBN box and Router to keep battery powered Google security cameras running which need internet to be of any use

      • How are your camera's powered? This is where POE excels.

        • New Google cameras are battery + can be plugged in direct too, so when power goes off you still get weeks of battery. The weakness is now power = no internet = no way for cameras to send footage to the cloud.

POE would be an excellent solution but these don't have that, battery does the job though.

          • @cook99: Modem and router should run for 2.5-5 hours based on 6-12 watts per device.

          • @cook99: Any other offering is just going to give you longer run time or service higher wattage devices or have more outlets. There may be some additional surge protection science also, not sure.

            • @dmbminaret: Thanks for the feedback, this would probably cover it then, just after a couple hours security cameras working for when power goes out, stops thieves turning off mains at meter box expecting that cams will be out of commission.
Could also get a lockable meter box I suppose

              • @cook99: Yep. Funny how different people have different use cases. I'm not getting one for when I'm out like you, I'm getting one for when I'm home.

The other night the power went out for a few seconds while I was in the middle of a timed online assessment. By the time the internet came back up, I'd lost 10 of my 20 minutes.

  • That's a decent price for a 12v power inverter

  • By router blow up in the last lightening storm. This would have prevented that.

  • We have had so many power failures recently. Must resist

  • Any idea how long these battery last before it need replacing or can it be replaced??

    • Roughly a couple of years. Hard to tell unless you can test. I believe there is software tho never used it.

Someone said they replaced batteries by hacking bottom of unit open.
