Always torn between pros and regulars.

The higher ratings are nice, but the faster self discharge isnt ideal.

Though… 15% a year is still very usable, compared to the 3% of the regulars… I can top up once a year…

    • +1

Yeah I'm hearing ya! I switched back from the pros to regular because the pros were basically flat after not using them for just a week. The regulars seem to hold their charge much better.

      • wow didnt know this

      • I thought the pros last longer than the regular when not in use? I'm so confused O_o

        • No, regulars last longer when not in use.

          • @damion: What's with the holds up to 85% after 1 year claim on the pros then? Lies?

            • +2

@starburstyellow: Yes, the eneloop pro is claimed to hold 85% after 1 year of storage; regular eneloop is claimed to hold 90% after 1 years.
eneloop pro is only rechargeable 500 times, and regular is 2100.
The brighter flame burns half as long!

            • @starburstyellow: Its significantly more self discharge than the "at least 70% after 10 years" the non pro's advertise, thats for sure.

  • hmm how come shopping square can sell both a little cheaper (but too bad their shipping kills).

i have on SSquare cart: 4pack AA and 4pack AAA, to Sydney total $38.45
with Amazon S&S, total $36.65 (with prime)
pretty close, amazon you should do better.

at this price, anyone still recommending to get the IKEAs? ($15 AA and $10 AAA)

    • Why not? Their performance is proven, and they're still cheaper.

      • yeah make sense $36 vs $25 is significant

    • +1

I checked and the $10 Ladda AAA pack are the low capacity (750mah). I reckon when the high capacity is available, it will be priced in line with the high capacity AAs. So it's really 36.65 vs 30.

  • Ahhhh the classics.

  • Anyone know of a decent 1.5V rechargeable AA battery?

    • I bought a 4 pack of t-power a while ago. They were the cheapest i could find, but still $8 each.

    • Nope; they're really only 1.3 (nimh) or 1.6 (nizn).

There are some 'mini lithium' type things that run regulators and junk, but their capacity is a huge shot in the dark.

They usually list watt hours without taking conversion losses into account.

Also, little lipo batteries are volatile spicy pillows.

  • I have been thinking of getting into these, perfect for my bike light.
Does anyone know what the best charger for them is? A lot of conflicting reviews online, specifically in regard to the Eneloop chargers themselves.

  • +1

anyone know of a good deal on charger for these batteries?

    • honestly i would like to know too. can you just use any charger?

  • Buy 8 for $39.71 and you sneak in free delivery for those without Prime.

As an FYI I got a pack of these all of them tested 2600+mah in my La Crosse BC-700 charger

    2630
    2630
    2670
    2650

    • Thats quite good. I have been using these eneloop pros for a while and they perform very well. They get heated in my charger but I think thats okey

  • +1

    Ladda

  • +2

anyone have a recommended charger for these?

  • Just out of curiosity, what do people use these for? I was thinking of getting them for the TV remote, but those take ages to deplete anyway. The charge on the second pair would probably be gone by then, right?

    • I use it for sensor activated auto lights.
      They work very well.
      And remotes:-)

    • a lot of photographers use these for their off camera flash.

  • The good guys commercial is where I buy the normals.
Too bad they don't have pro, but from what is said, it seems that the normals might actually be more useful if you want to keep a few spare ( not in regular use).
