  • Thanks OP, partner got 3 months with her iPhone but I'm an android owner so will use that when it's my turn :-)

Or just get another partner when this expires @_@

      • yeah wtf he should gift u a new iPhone like its March-8 at least new SE2022

  • Does this include hosting a custom domain email address since g suite is charging soon?

    • No it doesn’t, you would have to take up the extra iCloud storage at $4.49 per month or the Family Apple One Plan at $25.95 per month to gain access.

    • Yes it does I'm using it now*. Apple One has iCloud+ 50GB that includes customer domain email. You can pay for more storage. Setting up iCloud custom domains isn't for the faint hearted.

*See my comment below if you already have some Apple services!

For $19.95 you get only 50Gb storage, apple music, arcade, and TV. Not worth it.

    • Yeah it's a bit rough considering you would be unlikely to maintain an arcade or TV sub on its own. The family sub is better value if you can swing it.

    News+ is already $15/mo

Is it a good idea to get the Premiere for $40 good for 5 person, then split it so its like $8/person?

    I'd be interested to join.

    • Yes. See my below comment. Someone should facilitate a thread to get interested members on-board, and then set it up and get people to transfer them monthly.

Also, it’s 6 people including yourself so $6.66 a month.

    • You have to trust the other people since their purchases will go onto your credit card by default.

      • Not true, you have to specifically enable that. Source: I administer a family

  • Looks like gaming (ie. Arcade) is becoming an “essential” service. Even noticed ShopBack has a new section on games.

With metaverse now, everyone’s moving up the chain.

Reminder you can get Apple One Premier (Music, News, Fitness, Arcade, TV, 2TB iCloud+) for $40 a month and then have 5 other people in your ‘family’ to make it $6.66 each for all these services.

People have said this doesn’t work properly because of the family owner having to pay for others’ transactions. This is NOT true. There are no limitations, restrictions or privacy implications apart from:

    • 2TB is a shared pool of data, so need some sort of agreement to only use ~333GB max each. You can NOT see anyone else’s data, just how much they’re using
    • Weirdly, in ‘Find My’ you can see the names of family members’ devices, whether they’re online and their battery percentage. But of course, cannot see their location.

I have this set up with a mixture of friends/family/OzBargain randoms, and can not recommend it more highly for a very premium subscription service for a mere $6.66 a month.

  • I already have Apple TV ($7.99) and Apple iCloud+ with 2TB ($14.99), so $22.98 per month.

We are a family of four using Apple iCloud storage so we need more than 200GB.

From my reading if we go Apple One Family ($25.95) and still need 2TB in Apple iCloud then I still have to pay $14.99 for it on top of Apple One Family, so $40.94 per month.

Is anyone able to confirm this?

If that is the case then Apple One Premier ($39.95) becomes cheaper, but includes services we will probably never use.

    • Correct. Fitness is excellent if you have an Apple Watch, and News is good for bypassing Murdoch paywall and reading lots of interesting magazines. If you aren't using any of the family features (e.g. you paying for their purchases, tracking their devices, monitoring their screen usage etc..), can get some of the money back by getting 2 other people (even randoms) to fill up your last slots.

    WARNING:
TLDR; If you have ever used any free trials (Apple TV+, Music, Arcade, News+) you will be charged immediately for the so-called free trial.

Yesterday I took the Apple One "free" trial offer when my Apple Music sub expired. Beforehand I chatted with support over iMessage who said my current subscriptions and offers would stay until I began paying for Apple One. Cancel before end of trial and revert back to what I had.

Well, they immediately charged me $19.95, cancelled my other services and credited them. Speaking with three different, polite Apple support people they decided I can't go back and my offers are lost. This includes Apple TV+ sub that came with Apple TV and Arcade that came with controller.

I've spent 3 hours on phone/chat with Apple Support trying to fix it. Case was escalated and as of 5pm still waiting for my 12.30pm AEST callback ;). I give Apple 10/10 for hardware support over the past 20 years but this support experience has been worse than Telstra. :O

  • Is it true to presume that if one has already used the free 1-week trial of Apple TV+ they won't be eligible for this free 1-month trial of the packaged Apple One?
