[Pre Owned] 10% off All Swiss Watches: Purchase via Email Only, Mention Newsletter Subscriber Offer @ Clockmaker

20

Note: Purchases are to be done via email communications only. The prices on the website are regular prices. Email or phone the store for the deal prices.

The email does not say it's only for subscribers

Subscribers to Clockmaker.com.au would have received a e-newsletter setting clockmaker.com.au has 10% off all Swiss stock today.

The sale is not mentioned on the website so I'm not sure if you gotta be a subscriber or if it's for everyone - doesn't hurt to ask if you see something you like.

The email mentions there wont be any further 10% sales this year.

Email also states the sale can be retracted early if his target his reached.

I purchased an Omega from clockmaker before and his watches are legit. And it's always safer to buy from an actual watchmaker not a cowboy flipper.

  • website looks so clunky…..but the prices are unbeleivable!!
Knew swiss watched are dearer but not this dearer for pre-owned ones too!!

    • Welcome to the 2020s. Prices have skyrocketed in the last years. Notice only 1 Rolex listed? That's because they are now worth more used more than brand new (but try getting one new). The sites stock is not cheap, the 10% helps I guess and at least it's legit and a registered business. Check Chrono24 and eBay listing - the prices are not that far fetched in comparison.

Omega - my brand of choice, are less costly used than new - bar a few limited or highly sough after models.

Also, Authorised (new watch) Dealers generally won't discount as much or at all. In the 2010's, 20% off was easy to negotiate - now it's getting tough at 5% off. This all impacted the pre-owned market. There have also been many price rises from manufacturers in the last 24 months.

I've been following the newsletter for years - but only purchased one; they had something that wasn't very available onshore unless I wanted to risk a private sale/eBay/overseas.

10 years ago I mostly bought private listings but the counterfeiters have got too good and the scammers too tricky.

  • Great insight thanks.
Are you a watch collector or just watch fanatic?

    • I've got half a dozen. I'd like to think a collector but gotta watch the spend. At least they are money in the bank and unlike expensive electronics/cars, watches hold readable value I can turn into cash if need be.

  • I can't see where it mentions 10% off….

    • It doesn't - read the post in full please.

  • If anyone is looking at purchasing, Rolex is only worth buying when it’s retail. Resell price is ridiculously high. Only problem is the waiting list is between 1-2 years for certain popular models. Also to mention you have to put down a 15% deposit depending which retailer you’re going to. Rolex watches will always retain value if not increase over time if you were thinking of resell so it’s a good investment.

Yep. I'm not paying more for a used watch than the same watch new. Unfortunately that means no Rolex for me. It's too hard to get them new at retail. I've never been a huge Rolex fan anyways. I just wished I bought some 10 years back, when they were relatively cheap pre owned

  • I wouldn't mind an Omega Aqua Terra but they don't have the model I want and the others are still a bit more than I want to spend

  • Sounds suss. Please email me your credit card details, a copy of your driver's licence and passport too

    • Clockmaker is well recognised amongst Australia's watch enthusiasts. He wouldn't be able to operate this way if he wasn't legit.

Anyways: after COB so deal's probably gone.

  • +1

Nick Hacko is one of the most recognised independent small batch Australian watchmaker. They are also some of the best watch restorers around. I agree with OP regarding Rolex. Prices on the website are I would say about 20% higher than from grey market dealers and private sellers but obviously a 10% markup ( after discount) is worth the peace of mind
