Do Bunnings Always Discount Ozito to Match ALDI?

Hi! I've seen it mentioned on here quite a bit that when Aldi have power tools on sale that Bunnings will often price match with their Ozito(and sometimes Ryobi!) equivalent.

Have people found that to always be the case? Do Bunnings match it on their website too, or is it just in store? Does that also mean that it will vary from store to store? (I'd imagine a store with no Aldi nearby wouldn't match if that's the case)

I ask since I'd like to get the Ozito Brushless SDS Hammer Drill and I saw that it was down to $99 to match Aldi's equivalent model a year or two ago. Would be much more comfortable(RE:warranty/returns) getting an Ozito, as Bunnings always has their stuff in stock. Happy to wait for Aldi to sell them as it retails at $179, but want know what the odds are it'll even get discounted are!

I figure Aldi are due to sell it again soon too, but who knows with all their delays!

Thanks!

  • Struggling to get ozito drills at any of my local bunnings currently

    • My locals were looking bare a few weeks ago, but there seems to be ample stock now!

Bunnings used to do this heaps, but not as often in the last couple of years. This is the reason I have almost every single Ozito tool below RRP!

If you're looking for a specific tool for a job, you are gambling that Aldi will have the exact one you want AND that Bunnings will match it. If Aldi doesn't have a brushless SDS drill then you're not going to see a discount, and since that's a very specific item you have almost no chance for it to happen. It'd be better if you're building out your toolkit with the basics like 4Ah batteries and drills etc, and use your savings to pay for the occasional full-price tool when you need it.

    • Aldi have had the SDS in recent years, so it's not that unreasonable to expect it to appear again. (their special items are usually annual)

I've actually got all Ryobi tools, but their drill is $300. I was planning to use my 3d printer to make an adapter so I can use my ryobi batteries in it. Would cost me only some time. Just not keen on have 2 battery ecosystems.

I'm happy to wait and see what Aldi do this year & and if bunnings match. If they don't, I'll probably still just get the Ozito at full price as it's still much cheaper than the Ryobi.

If you can do your own adapters, then that'll be ideal if/when you do need an SDS drill. I've done this for a couple of Aldi specific tools - the cordless pressure washer skin I grabbed for $25, and their chainsaw chain sharpener - and is an ideal solution.

If you can wait, then it'll pay off - just all depends how long!

Ryobi batteries with the “post” converted to something else are going to be massive.

        • That’s the downside with the Ryobi batteries, but getting eg Makita batteries into Ryobi skins is a lot easier.

        • Oh yeah, absolutely. Depending on the tool you can get creative though. The one I plan to do for the Ozito hammer drill will be offset to the rear so that post/neck doesn't make it too much higher.

Its definitely easier to do it the opposite way with pretty much any other battery brand though. I have a victa with x2 5ah batteries,(which don't have a post) so I may end up just doing an adapter for those instead.
