A Good Quality Power Board/Strip

Hi guys I’ve been looking for a good quality power outlet recently but the only one I can find with good reviews are the Belkin ones but they are apparently way too big. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good brand for a power outlet? Cheers thanks

@jv: Yeah if you answered the question. I asked for a recommendation for a good brand not a link to all of them.

I recommend the ones in the link.

@jv: Why even post if you’re going to be like that. I recommend you don’t post on every post and only post when you have something to add.

                    Just trying to help out.

All the bunnings ones are good, and if they are not, they'll refund you without any issues…

@jv: What makes them all good? Bunnings sells a lot of crap.

@enwar: They're cheap and the work.

@enwar: It's a power board. There isn't much to it.

    • How much does an electrician quote for changing the switch?

Power Outlet, Power Adapter, or Power Board?
I wasn't aware Belkin made Power Outlets?

    • I meant power board/strip

      • All good. Aldi have a good one from time to time, with decent specs - Every 3 months?

        • I remember those Aldi power boards dieing early and the USB ports often stopped working soon after purchase. This on based user feedback in these forums.

Do you mean a wall power outlet socket or a surge protector power strip?

Check Amazon for whatever you requirements are. Always get a surge protected one.

    • Surge protector power strip. I checked Amazon but the reviews aren’t that great for most of them on there.

      • Any other specs like :
        number of GPo sockets?
        color?
        cable length?
        with switches or not?
How many joules for the surge?
        Usb changer included? What type?
        LED for power on?
        Warranty period?
Online or bricks and mortar store?
        size? WxLxDxH

Where this guy come from, power outlet?? Go back to Germania

  • how many ports? The main player is really belkin in this space, the idea being in the event your stuff does get damaged at least they are so big they have a good chance of not stooging you on a claim (though they probably will still try).

    • +1

Worth being careful with that. The basic consumer Belkin stuff doesn't offer compensation like they used to.

It needs to specifically say "Connected Equipment Warranty" on the unit (which $20/30 ones don't) and you must still retain receipt.

      • sorry I just assumed the ozbargain default was either BSV804au2M or BSV401au2M which are 50k and 20k "Connected Equipment Warranty" respectively.

I have 3 of the 8 ports at home now and waiting for another good sale on BSV804au2M to grab 2 more.

    • Powerguard, which is now owned by Cellnet in Qld, were the 1st I know of that introduced the indemnity warranty (and still do),@20 years ago, however their specs are lousy, compared to what some units claim they can absorb these days.

I picked up a 4 port version of this with USB ports for $29 yesterday from Bunnings
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/belkin-surgeplus-8-outlet-2-usb-…
    Surge protected too

    • I have one of those but it’s half a meter long thats my main issue with it.

      • I use Jackson one from amazon. Specially looking for one that has surge protector and individual swithc to turn off and on butbehy are very compact.

i buy these Cyber Power 8 outlet boards when i see them on Ozbargain usually on sale for $29-30

Currently $30 delivered for Prime users at Amazon.
      Actually a good deal.
Although the package weight of the product indicates it must be made out of lead (27kg)?

      • Lol im pretty sure the weight is a mistake

  • You didn't mention the specific usage for the powerboard so, on the off-chance that you were attaching it a UPS, you may want to read this.

In brief - Schneider Electric recommends against the use of any surge protector, power strip or extension cord being plugged into the output of any APC Back-UPS and Smart-UPS products. This document will explain why.

    https://www.apc.com/au/en/faqs/FA158852/

  • Meets Australian standards, flat plug, no switches unless specifically required (just another component to go wrong), no surge protection (unless happy to pay big bucks for one that actually protects). Arlec, HPM etc.

  • Curious to learn what you ended up getting. I’m looking for one too. Items that will be plugged in - TV, Soundbar, wifi router, laptop charger

I got the CyberPower one the other poster linked above.

I’ve had this one for more than a year. Runs all of my entertainment in one room and all the USB ports still function reliably to charge devices and power bricks

  • I use this. Has about 15 connected, all running simultaneously. No issues, ever, for last 2 years since iv had it.
