Marvel Vs Capcom 2 for iOS Devices Launch Sale $2.99

190

A pretty good fighting game, backgrounds are rendered in 3D unlike Street Fighter IV Volt, seems like we're getting a fully ported version instead of a stripped down version.
App is also Universal, but on my iPad 1 it's pretty laggy.
It's not available on the NA store yet, so we're lucky that we were one of the first countries to get the game?
Discount of $2.50, regular price is $4.99, however, due to Apple's current Appstore $4.99 games for the USA get upsized to $5.49 in Australia.

  • Downloaded as soon as I woke up. Been waiting for this since I heard of the launch date. Haven't played it yet because I am still sleepy and my cognitive functions aren't at 100%.

  • Downloading Marvel Vs Capcom 2 right now..

    Thanks :D

  • Please give some reviews about it. it is obviously a good start that this game is universal, meaning you don't have to buy it twice for diff devices.

    • Why cant you google reviews about it ?

      • +2

Well, it hasn't been released yet in NA, and has only been out for Australia this morning so… there's no reviews yet.

  • laggy as hell on my ipad 1… graphic is horrible, definitely not HD to my eyes… did I download the iphone version instead? but even the iphone version shouldn't look this bad… disappointing…

    • This game is over 10 years old, and it seems to be a straight port so what you got in 2000 is what you're getting here… and I already did mention bad performance on the iPad.

  • Yes i love universal apps!

  • HADOUKEN!!!!!!

  • lags on ip4 :( not as smooth as sf4

  • Can't wait for them to port x-men vs Street Fighters as well.

  • +2

On the new iPad, the game is quite smooth, but no retina display support. Graphics is like playing Street Fighter 4 with the 2X (scale iPhone app to iPad) - except you don't need to press it. It is not really an iPad native app to be honest.

Unless you really like this game, I wouldn't recommend it. Wasted $2.99.

    • +1

Yeh graphics pretty crap, wasted $2.99
      Sf iv mUch better

  • -6

    So what's the normal price?

    • $4.99

    • +3

So, why the neg? Normal price is going to be $4.99 in US Appstore, and in AU Appstore $5.49
I'll change the description to reflect this, even though you could have easily just clicked on the link and seen for yourself.

  • It works fine on iPad 2. Graphic livable, but not excellent. Control a bit hard without joystick. I don't mind spending $2.99 for it. 4 star for me.

  • Now all they have to do is port mvc3 and we are all good :)

  • Despite the mixed reviews, I give it a big thumbs up! Bare in mind, this is the 1st version (1.0.0). I'm sure there will be tweaks and renditions each time.

    Positives:
    1. It's pretty much a full game from the Arcade or Playstation Versions.
    2. Controls (Set A) are the best (original for the game) to execute air combos and special/super moves.
    3. Sound quality is excellent.
    4. Unlockables are great.
    5. Something different than SF4 (remember, this is a tag-team/2D fighter game which is different to the normal 2D fighter like SF IV Volt, so more emphasis is on executing air combos, dual or triple super moves etc.)

    Criticisms:
    1. "Graphics are liveable, but not excellent." quoted by SumaraiPizzaCat. Close to that of a PSP device. There is a trade-off between super graphics and content. I'd go for content anytime and this game seems to have all characters and special moves for it. Example: Graphics for FIFA 12 on iPhone is not that spectacular either but the content with all the teams and leagues is a plus.
    2. Lag. There's a 'little' bit of lag. Mostly comes from the loading of sprites and special effects when a string of special moves occur or they happen simultaneously (e.g., fireballs, assists). I'm sure this will be optimised and fixed by the next version. It's liveable for now.
    3. Achievements. Though the unlockables are already a big task. I would love to have some in the near future.
    4. Short-Cuts. It would be great to have some short cut for supers, but I guess the controls are a bit of a handful for now.

    Tips:
    A. Use Control Set A. It's the best.
    B. Characters to start off with:
Cable: Hard punch (4 times) to shoot the gun and then execute a Viper Beam together. Simple 12 Hit Combo
Spiderman: Two light punches to lift opponent in the air, jump and then do light punch, light kick, hard punch, hard kick (like a backwards N sequence) for a simple air combo.
Super combo: Depending on what level you are (on the super combo bar), press both the assist buttons to do a dual or triple team super combo.
    C. If you are familiar with the game, set the damage to high in the options menu, so that you quickly clock the game to buy and unlock more new characters.

    Cheers! :)

will future updates be free ?

    • Patches will be free, and I don't see them putting more characters/modes on a 12 year old game.

  • Wow haven't played this game in over 10 years. Have they nerfed the exploits from the Arcade version, with the most infamous being Cable's super
