  • Does anyone know if I bought a 128GB microSD card and when I checked the memory, it turns out to be 120GB only, does that mean it’s a fake microSD card?

  • would this be good for security camera usage?

    • You would idealy want an endurance card for such devices. Like dash cams.

      • The average security camera that would use a memory card would only be recording during motion, so I don't think you would particularly need an endurance card.

        • is endurance type more expensive?

          • @PissLUR: Yes. This one cost $20. The endurance equivalent is $30 or so.

        • Fair enough if only recording during motion but if continuously recording. I still recommend an endurance card

  • Amazon have extreme A2 128gb for 25.55, is it worth it for the extra performance?

    • Depends on what device you gonna use it for. If it can make use of the extra performance then it might be worth it.

      • I guess if I don't know, I don't need it lol

        • Just out of curiousity what device where you to use it on?

Just to give you an example.

I went a sandisk extreme card for my sony zv-1 point and shoot camera and one for my osmo action camera.

Now if i was going to put one in my lg v20. I would just get the largest standard microsd card my budget would allow.

          • @xoom: I use a usb 3.0 micro sd reader instead of a bunch of usb sticks. Files, boot iso etc

          • @xoom: ZV1 max bitrate is 100Mbps, or 12.5 megabytes/second.
            https://helpguide.sony.net/dc/1910/v1/en/contents/TP00028700…

The Osmo action is the same: https://www.dji.com/au/osmo-action/info

12.5MB/s is well below what most modern (even the cheapest) SD cards are capable of.

            • @studentl0an: True but when im pulling the captures or editing them i like to still have a faster card.

              • @xoom: Yeah that's a fair point - but the read speed on modern cheap SD cards is already 80+MB/s, well above what a lot of SD card readers are capable of (particularly ones in laptops which is why notebookcheck benchmarks all their laptops SD card readers).

You may have an SD card reader that can read at those or faster speeds, so the added read speed may be a time saver if pulling a lot of footage.

                • @studentl0an: I also like to keep microsd cards much like my other tech for a while so eventually the devices they end up in will likely be faster and can take advantage of the added headroom the extreme cards can do.

              • @xoom: Thanks for the info guys, great to know this

  • ~$19 is pretty much standard price for 128 now imo. If I paid more than that I'd feel ripped off.

Got the 64GB for free one for me and one for my wife from the SANDisk academy…

    • Sandisk academy? What sorcery is this?

    • No welcome letter or brochure, just a card with no context in the envelope.

What do you want us to do with this information? You've said the same thing on a few micro sd card deals already…

        He's pretty much JV 2.0

Any good deals on SD cards suitable for dash cams at the moment?

  • These good for the Nintendo Switch? Debating between this and the $5 more one. Can't work out if the switch can make use of the difference.

    • Save the $5 and buy this.
