JB Hi-Fi Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Click and Collect Pre-Ordered Phone - No Stock

I have just gotten off the phone with JB Hifi after not receiving any status updates for a while, and have been told that I won't be able to get the phone on Friday 4th March, as they aren't receiving any stock.

Is anyone else going through this?
My nearest store that offered click and collect is Elizabeth, SA. Would be interested to know if this is a wide-spread issue (as I assume that would mean I have to wait even longer)

It is quite infuriating to pre-order a phone so it's reserved for you on release day, then to find out they never had the stock to begin with when their website said they did at purchase..

I hope this doesn't take months.

    A bit of a dog act by JB on that one regarding communication.

    I know the pre-orders were fairly overwhelming for Samsung, my one is still 'being made' after being ordered 3 weeks ago along with supply line shortages etc.

    I guess it'll just be a waiting game, the first people in line would receive theirs and so on and so on.

    If Samsung can't get them out then JBHIFI unfortunately won't be getting them out.

    • Normally I never really preorder anything, this just cemented in why I shouldn't

    • This. Also preordering has the risk of the phone being awful as well, so best to wait for few months after release for proper reviews first (and who knows maybe even better deal down the line)

    Yes, JB should have communicated better but almost every business is stuggling with supplies…plus it's a phone, infuriating seems an overkill.

    Don't go all Karen over it, unless they do handver your allocation to someone else…

    • The part I am most annoyed at is where their website stated that they had the stock at the store when they didn't.

      It certainly made me feel more assured that I was able to pick up on release day. Anything to win the sale I guess, I know now for next time.

      • Pre-orders don't say "in-stock at store".

        It says "Pre-Order pickup available from release day at xxxxxxxx".

        Stock delays and issues happen.

          I can vouch for what OP is saying. When I pre-ordered with click and collect on 23rd Feb, the stock checker said they had plenty of stock (and even had the stock meter thing on the product page at the very top in the green section). Given that others were also getting calls to pick up their orders early, I thought there was going to be a chance Iā€™d get a call to get mine relatively quickly too.

    I am not. But I suspect you're not the only person. Whether it's a systemic issue (with JB and/or their logistics partners) or you've just been unlucky, these things happen.

    I saw this happen to people who pre-ordered the new Pixel phones last year as well. I was lucky my pre-order was available on release day, but I know not everyone's was.

  • One of the guys at work got his from Vodafone days ago. Samsung might be favoring the carriers.

  • Just spoke with JB Online rep and she said there's going to be statewide shortages but she can't tell if individual orders will be fulfilled on time or not. Awesome.

  • Can you cancel and get an order in with Samsung? Won't be as good a credit but you get the gift and bonuscare.

      I probably could, but I took advantage of the trade-in program and only paid around $1300 for the S22 Ultra 512GB

  • I had to come across this. Oh well just ordered one tonight through Jbhifi a S22 128gb,. All good as I remember a good old saying on an Apple II PC loading OS from one of those massive 5 and half inch floppies, stating as loading,. šŸ‘šŸ˜

  • I am in the same situation for preorder. Jb Hifi is saying they will receive stock mid to end of march. The bonus gift promotion can only be claimed until 1st April. When I told them its their issue of not getting the stock they blamed it on Samsung. They asked me to contact Samsung if they could extend the promotion claim date.

    It seems like people are getting stock if the phone was ordered from Samsung online or from their outlet.

    Anyone experiencing this situation? Or had it before for Samsung preorders?

    I contacted JB Hifi regarding this and they sent me an email with an apology and a $50 gift voucher. It is going to be delivered mid March to end of March. People waiting for pre ordered phones please contact JB Hifi, you might get a $50 voucher like me.

    So an update, as I haven't been on OzB for a bit..

    On launch day, I actually received the text and email saying I could pick up the phone at around 3pm, So I left work early and surely enough they actually had the phone ready for me.
    So I have to give it to them, they did a decent job with my order, and I'm sure everyone else's won't be too far off, as they definitely are receiving stock. (Keep your heads up!)

    On a side note, I had my Screen Protector rock up on the same day (what luck, right?), and I have to mention, Whitestone Dome screen protectors are worth the hype around them. It took me an hour to put it on following a YouTuber that did it, but my god, I never thought I'd be able to have a tempered glass screen protector that feels like it isn't there.
    Definitely recommend getting one if you have the $
