Great price on a simple no-nonsense Nerf gun. Picked up a couple for the kids. Not the cheapest it's ever been (was $8.40 during the Black Friday sale) but a good price nonetheless.

Same price at Target if you prefer and can find local stock: https://www.target.com.au/p/nerf-elite-2-commander-rd6-slamf…

EDIT: Thanks to @Well Wasted, note the Target version is the Australian version (grey trigger) which has slightly reduced firing speed and distance. Amazon is the US version (orange trigger).

The Strongarm with the pop out cylinder was way cooler.

The Elite Turbine for $25 is also a good deal.

    US version.

    • JC. The magazine release in the Turbine is disgusting. How do they expect a kid to push it? It hurts.

If you're willing to pay a bit more you can get the nerf rival Kronos. Much better performer.

    • How come they don’t sell Rival in Aus?

      • +3

Something about keeping people safe from toy guns or Aussies aren't responsible enough to play with toys guns. Take your pick.

        • Sad, they look like the coolest nerf there is. You’ve had no trouble shipping into Aus from overseas?

          • +5

@AlsoBort: they exceed the velocity for toys in australia… technically they're illegal to import so i don't understand how amazon can sell the US versions in australia… the one linked above at target has a grey trigger (australian version) US versions have an orange trigger… (shoot slightly farther and faster due to a larger spring)

            • @Well Wasted: Thanks for the information, have updated the main post to clarify differences.

@AlsoBort: Well wasted is close, the muzzle energy of the projectile exceeds Australian toy laws. Changes were made in 2020 to allow ‘orange trigger’ variant nerf blasters into Australia which means hasbro can send either trigger colour to australia depending on availability. Rival is still too powerful and is also sold as +14 years and older only which apparently becomes a legal safety thing or something, so hasbro doesn’t want to sell rival in Australia.
Rival isn’t illegal to buy and import for individuals from overseas (unless customs don’t like the look of it) so amazon gets away with it easily, there are a couple niche stores that import and sell rival and other brands that are not available in Aus for distribution reasons and can far exceed our toy projectile law limits.

Get local one, open it, change spring to heavy duty.
