Already own the game(and loving it) but spotted this on my travels when looking for Zelda BOTW (also back to $64) on Amazon AU.

Good price, all time lowest? Paid $69 at Big W for mine a couple of weeks ago.

  • how long will it take to reach 50$ like the rest of the switch pokemon games?

    • If only Zelda followed suit, felt odd paying $64 for a 4 year old game.

Terrible graphics, fun game though. Surprisingly a recommend! Feels like a first draft of a great new formula for upcoming Pokemon games.

Second this, the game got me hooked and it was fun enough for me to overlook the graphics though. IMO its the best Pokemon game released on the Switch as of yet.

    • +1

I actually find the graphics quite good.

  • Thanks bought one

I am nearly 50 hours into it. Ive been playing Pokemon since red/blue but dropped the series when I got burnt out and became too easy after sun/moon.

I love the difficulty of this game and I think I've been wiped out by some difficult wild Pokemons.

If you are looking for a new spin on pokemon and want a Pokemon game that is not mind-numbing easy, this is the one

Basically an identical story for me, took a 10 year hiatus and this is my return to Pokemon, chose a good game to come back I think.

    • How does this compare to sword and shield ?

      I played blue/red, X/y and sword/Shield

      • +1

Closest to sword and shield with Pokemon in the overworld but with more personality. Pokemon attack you with actual ranged attacks or melee. Pokemon reacts to you more naturally compared to Sw/Sd.

The game plays a bit like a stealth game but not too much.

There is however no PvP, they removed IV and Ev is done through an item where you can max all stats. So if competitive battle is your thing, this is not the game for you.

There is forced exp share but in this game, level is a lot less important. A level 35 can KO a level 70 in two moves using a type advantage and agile move (2 consecutive attack, new battle system introduced). I find that my entire team can be easily wiped out if I'm not careful which was something I wanted in a Pokemon game and fits the overall theme of the game where Pokemom are relatively unknown and are seen as dangerous.

Not Shin Megami Tensei difficult, but it's not something you can cheese without thinking.

Heavy hand holding at the beginning, but the training wheels comes off after the tutorial.

        • Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

So - its less of a grind?

But there is NO pvp at all???

I mean I would down for pokemon battles where the type matchup and combos are more impactful than the random chance of IV - remove the grind and I would be keen as!

          • +1

@m0tyrider: No PvP unless it comes as a future update.

In terms of grind, there is more for catching rather than training. To fill up a pokedex, you need to do 10 research task on top of catching that Pokemon once which are fairly easy as some tasks are worth 2 points. BUT if you are a completionist and want to finish every single tasks listed, it is very grindy. Like feed a Pokemon 50 times, see Pokemon use this move 50 times kind of grind

You will also need to collect items to craft pokeball, sort of like monster hunter, not sure if that's something you like

Overall, game is not botw, Mario odyssey, smash ultimate or metroid dread level of polish, but I found it fun
