Good point.
I think ill try the cheap version first before going all in on this boi.I still have my 15 year old kmart sandwich press. I've wanted it to die for years so i can get a nice breville. But it just keeps on going, cooking my eggs. day in, day out.
good choice, they're pretty cool but they're not like the pictures, you can't fill it with chips and come back later, all the ones under the top layer will be hot but not crispy etc.
And pictures like this are especially disingenuous, everything on that table is gonna be stone cold except for the chicken.
I disagree, my air fryer has built in virtue signalling via bluetooth.
Geez imagine a virtue signaling air fryer what society to live in.
Comparisons with Kmart's air fryer starting in 3… 2…
Will you settle for a BigW one? works great….
Cheapo ones seem to not cook evenly imo, when i got this everything was cooked fine
I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. It is quite honestly the best kitchen item I have ever purchased. Used it for pork belly on the weekend and it came out moist in the middle and crispy on top. I use auto sensing for everything, and so far it hasn't missed a beat.
Between us, our family has the Phillips XXL and a Ninja. While there may be some differences in cooking, they don't jump out at you as other differences such as how easy it is to clean.
All of them always claim to be easy to clean and look that way on paper. But quite a few are not dishwasher ready (such as our Ninja).
What I like about this model is the sensors. Yes, I am sure they are not spot on but at least you have a starting point for the trial and error that is inevitable with these things. When we first started using them, we were just guessing madly - and still do when cooking a new ingredient for the first time. It's not so much that a sensor guarantees accuracy - it just takes away guesswork that can deter you from trying items out in it.
Been really happy with my kmart 7L air fryer I use it every single day, but tonight it flunked out on me and wont switch on.. I've only had it about 9 months and I cant find the purchase receipt. All my local stores are OOS, so I might as well spring for a Phillips XXL this time around! Thanks OP :)
I think I missed out the deal again 😭
Just a quick note, while the actual buttons and basket features may be different, if you take out the basket and look up underneath an air fryer, it appears to be a fan (for circulating air) and a heating coil/element, similar to a broiler, or an older electric stovetop with electronic heating coils.
The actual heating mechanism isn't too complex, and apart from the volume of the basket of each air fryer, accessories and I suppose nicer build quality (on the exterior) the cheaper ones will do the job just fine (the Woolies 3.5L Mistral $34 on special is perfectly capable, for a 2-3 person household).
A little like how almost all toasters are the same. Take off the exterior/where all the buttons are located, and the toasters are just boxes constructed out of thin sheet metal with a few heating elements and thin wires to hold your bread in place.
