Is it just me or using Aliexpress is a shite experience

      What's the issue?

      Never been disappointed!

    • Could you elaborate? The shipping? Cost? Product quality?

No its not just you. I will avoid AE if I can source a product elsewhere, even at higher price. Reasons?
      1. Delivery times. Anything from 3 weeks to 3 months.
      2. Packaging is never sufficient to prevent some sort of damage.
      3. DOA. A higher than average number of electronic items arrive not working or not performing to advertised standards.
      4. Customer service. All talk, very little action. WRT 1,2 or 3 above, dont hold your breath for a replacement.
      5. Postage costs are totally inconsistent with size, value or weight of item and forget express or priority costs as you'll have to sell a kidney to save a few days off your 6 week wait!

Mind you, recent fleabay purchases haven't been a satisfactory experience either.
Now, if I can't get it from Amazon, I seriously consider whether I really need the item. Totally against OB principles I know.
It's just not worth the pain….

You are lost. I hope you find your way back to us.

AE has been horrible when products arrive broken. Why on earth would I want a partial refund on an item that doesn't work?

Delays with shipping of the items that are marked as shipped but haven't actually shipped yet… ie sellers avoiding the autorefund mechanism of AE if items don't ship within 5 days….

Packaging usually consists of green plastic garbage bag matterial and a layer of packing tape.

And the comms is generally bad.

All expected as they have to cut costs somewhere to be the bargain.

Basically difficult to search , usability issues. The site is too busy with irrelevant info and ads.
Ex, trying to get this deal, steps:
Click on cashback, navigate through shopback, then search using the product description from the deal title, can't find the product.
So had to buy directly from the link above. Which is fine as casback is negligible if applicable at all.
Won't comment on quality as its a mixed bag.

    Good deal nevertheless
From comments I guess is just me

A trick for cashback is you can find it by searching the product ID from the URL

      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003913701878.html

When you click through cashback, search for 1005003913701878 and it'll take you to the product page.

    • Another trick is to install a cashback addons to your browser and not only it will activate your cashback but also keeps the track of the product and even after reload it brings you back to the very product you jumped to, from Ozbargain.

  • 6 amp cable? I thought USB spec only allowed 5A. Even the new pd 3.1 spec is 5A.

    • Huawei propertiary charging. Nothing to do with the USB PD standards 😉

  • i'm confused. why is there electronics inside the usb connector? i thought cables just transferred electricity and the smart chargers did all the magic

    • There's nothing fancy inside the cable. I've simply listed the different types of fast charging it'll support for being rated at 6a.

      • this picture is on the page https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/37385/94681/cable.png

        confusing …

        • Yep charging protection is the best way of putting it and standard, along with resistors and other stuff. USB-C to C cables will often have an e-mark chip to allow them to go to 100W PD charging instead of 60W.
