Free Calls to Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Moldova, Slovakia and Romania @ Telstra

3730

Seems like a great offer from Telstra in these times.

As distressing events unfold in the Ukraine, we know many people in Australia will be anxiously seeking news of their loved ones.
We want to help where we can, so from today we’ll be making it easier for our customers to stay in touch with friends and family by providing free calls to Ukraine.

And with many Ukrainians fleeing to neighbouring nations, we’ve followed the UN’s assessment of refugee movements to also make calls free to Poland, Hungary, Moldova, Slovakia and Romania.

We’ll be waiving charges for calls to these countries from Telstra home phones and post-paid mobiles for the next month, and we’ll continue to monitor the situation.

Things you need to know

Keep in mind that calls to these regions may not always go through, due to potential infrastructure damage in the region.
Depending on your account, some people may not see the free calls logged in their call records.

As always, stay safe.

Not unless you pay for the international calls pack or go with a provider that specifically includes international calls. Hardly worth a neg.

      • Yes, that's what I mean by it being a standard. It's already included even in a bunch of basic plans. At least, that's what my provider tells me.

Doesn't apply to this deal then does it? You have to pay for a whole different plan to get what you're referring to. Just because some other providers include international calls, doesn't call for a negative vote.

          • @doweyy: To make a deal out of something as elementary as this is like listing a car that has a reverse camera parking feature when it's a standard with many manufacturers.

This is all so strange and kinda sus to cash in on the empathy for something that's tragic going on. It feels like Telstra astroturfing.

Well done figuring that one out on your own. So what's the neg for?

      • Oversell. 'Great offer' for something that is standard today feels redundant/astroturf-ish. No less on an ongoing terrible event that capitalises on empathy.

O-K, whatever you meant by that last sentence. No need to bitch about these telcoms proceedings. Until now we, the plebs, haven't had free calls to Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Moldova, Slovakia and Romania like you have.

          Sending empathy 🍕

No less on an ongoing terrible event that capitalises on empathy.

          • @pizzaguy: Exactly. It's like when plebs fall for corporate capitalism virtue signalling while maintaining slave-sweat factory shops in China. Glad you agree.

  • Same deal from Mate (got an email this evening, no link though).

  • MRPUSH is the acronym. Get on it.

(First time Moldova ever came first.)

    Telstra just updated this.

We’ve been working in the background to see what else we can do to help to make keeping in touch with loved ones as easy as possible. In addition to the above, we have also made International Roaming (including voice, SMS and data) free for any customers in Ukraine.
If you are in Ukraine and already have International Roaming charges on your bill (any time from 1 February until 31 March) we will ensure these charges are reversed.

I expect to see Chicken Kyiv at the supermarkets and restaurants now.

    KyivnotKiev

Kyiv (derived from the Ukrainian language name Київ) pronounced KEE-ev
Kiev (derived from the Russian language name Киев) pronounced Key-EV

    • You'd be lucky to see any chicken at the supermarkets here in WA

  • Nice deal, can someone share your relatives, friends phone number, i dont know anyone living there?

  • Does anyone know epic sax guy's number?

    • Is he still Putin out the tunes?
