Why is that, never heard anyone praise a T5 over a T7?
It has higher and longer sustained write performance. The T7 is overall "faster", however for those who need sustained write performance, the T5 is better. For example, we use T5's with out BMPCC4K cameras, the T7's just don't work because they can't sustain the needed write performance.
Thanks for sharing that information.
For the purpose of working with 100gb of video files alongside a Macbook M1 Pro, would a T7 be considered better than a T5? Or is this kind of work likely to cause issues for the T7 as well?
@rpalmer: If you're editing videos already on the T7, the T7 is the better drive. Editing videos is a largely read heavy workload, which the T7 excels at. The only major difference between the T5 and T7 is their sustained write performance. That said, the T7 can do about 80GB of writes at it's peak 1GB/s speed, so it's unlikely to impact you much working with 100GB video files.
@joshau: Thank you for the advice!
Everyone in the production industry classifies T5 to be superior to its successors. Sustained write speeds eg. Recording video directly to the drive (eg industry standard ProRes LT/1080p at 102mbps)
I have found the T7 heats up more than the T5, both as a working drive and a scratch drive for Adobe Premiere and After Effects. Not sure if this is consistent with other user's experiences
Arguably? Sure……
I prefer the T1000, it terminates all the others.
Given Samsung release a new version every 2 years or so, the T1000 will be ready for your enjoyment in year 4008 if things go by plan
Oh wait. Sammy doesn't do even numbers. That'll be T999 for you ;)

Don't worry, John Connor will send me one from the future.
is this a good option for expanding storage on Xbox series x?
Yes and No. Read this to understand.

What about xBox one X?
Yes, works great for both Xbox One/Xbox One X consoles, as well as the newer consoles with non Series X/S optimised games.
Not a deal, Bing Lee sells this normally at $149 on their eBay website
Yup, but $6 postage. Amazon is a better deal for me as no postage.
Free postage with eBay plus and usually the T7 can go as low as $127
Waiting for that price……
So far $149 delivered on eBay plus and extra $7.45 off too.

Arguably a better drive though it's not red :)
