easily worth. i never got into the hype for the witcher and i just thought it was overrated until 2016 when i decided to play because i had nothing else to play, i was surprised to see that it actually deserved all the hype it got, now one of my all time favourite games

    • Same….I avoided buying this during the hype and the Netflix show changed it around for me. Love a game with great story building and this was it.

Highly recommended game but I believe that discount offer comes very frequently for this game

    • Yep, and 80% ($11.99/$15.79) is the standard discount.

  • +1

I didn't realise the next gen update included pc too

    • +1

Yep, the update will also add ray tracing.

      • -1

I would not be surprised if the update is considered a remaster and sold separately at full price. We know they're adding DLSS and Ray-Tracing, but if they just update the textures to higher quality ones and the lighting system to a better model, they can easily slap the remaster branding on it like many other companies do.

      • any ETA?

        • No, everything got pushed back when Cyberpunk was released as a mess at the end of 2020. Cyberpunk DLC was supposed to come out mid-last year, still not out. Witcher 3 remaster was supposed to be released end of last year. Those were the plans in 2020 from what I remember. But obviously the Cyberpunk mess + pandemic pushed everything back.

          • @ThatsCheap: Cyberpunk has very little to do with it, as its being out sourced to Sabre, who handled the Switch Port.

          They said Q2 2022

  • Is the GOTY upgrade worth it compared to the base game?

    • +1

yes, it comes with all the DLC. DLCs are great too.

    • +1

Abso-freaking-lutely! It's been a while but just off the top of my head, the DLCs are 40 or so hours of content? I wish I could experience the game for the first time all over again, it's that good.

    • +1

Yes, it comes with both DLC's which in the case of this game are pretty much complete full story modes of their own. Both DLC's are brilliant and worth playing.

    • Thanks all. Got the GOTY! 42 GB! Looks like Ill need to dload tonight.

    • +1

Most game DLC's are rubbish and just a cash grab, but the Witcher 3 DLC's are freaking amazing. The stories are so captivating and might go as far as saying i enjoyed them more than the actual game which was already excellent.

  • I enjoyed Witcher 1 (I know it's aged) but couldn't get more than a few hours into Witcher 2 - will I be likely to enjoy this one? Is it a lot different than Witcher 2??

    • +5

There are a lot of similarities between them but 3 is the best gameplay by <———————————————————————-this much————————————————————————————->

  • This is one of the best game easily. Well at least you get to have sex with most female characters you want in game.. lol

  • Anyone know how cloud saves work if you purchase though GoG?

Would I be correct to assume you need to install the game through the GoG launcher for that functionality to work and if you just try and install it in a DRM-less fashion you don't get cloud saves?

    • +1

You obviously need GOG Galaxy for cloud saves. The game by itself cannot backup saves to the cloud. Also, GOG Galaxy does not have DRM. It's just there to provide extra functionality. The game is still DRM free if you install from GOG Galaxy.

The saves are stored locally at C:/Users/<username>/Documents/The Witcher 3.

You can back them up manually if you don't want to use GOG Galaxy. Or, you can install GOG Galaxy when you want to backup your saves, add the game to it, backup your saves,
      and then uninstall it.

  • GOTY - worth every cent even after how many years????

  • +1

Recently completed this game again (First time with the expansions).
Cannot believe the value to be had here. The Blood and Wine expansion by itself is worth $20 easily.

I bought it about a year ago because of all the hype. I've played it for about 10 hours total and I don't think I will continue.
It's just too slow and boring for me. So many videos and not enough action. The videos aren't very entertaining.
There is too much crafting for my liking.

I played it right after finishing Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which blows The Witcher away for entertainment value.
Maybe I'll try playing again sometime.
