Sad times that this is actually a good price.

    • i locked over a day ago when the war started. 1.78 was the best price…spewing

      • +3

Just create another account and lock in this price. No need to spew.

  • +3

    Nice find.
    Thanks
Hopefully see drop on E10 soon.

  • Any big difference between U91 and U95? U91 around $1.675 at my local, so might lock that instead of U95?

    • +6

      exactly 4 RON's

    • +1

Not unless your car says it needs U95. But it's definitely better long-term if you constantly use U98/U95 over U91.

      • Why?

        • -6

Because the only difference between U91 and U95/U98 is the additives used. These additives basically keep the engine running cleaner and smoother. Granted, it's all personal preference.

        • +4

The sulfur content limit is 1/3 the limit of U91. 50ppm vs 150ppm in Australia. This is supposed to change in 2024 with the phasing out of U91, and bringing the U95 sulfur limit in line with Europe at 10ppm (as it should be, for health) by upgrading refineries as far as I've heard.

Basically any cars with a Petrol Particulate Filter can't take it as it eats at the system (eg. in some Renaults, Peugeots and Volkswagens).

"Australia is one of only six countries in the OECD not to have any vehicle-emissions standards. Our fuel quality is also among the worst in the group, with a maximum of 150 parts per million (ppm) of sulphur for 91 octane regular unleaded, and up to 50 ppm for our 95 and 98 premium unleaded."

          -

"Sulfur in gasoline impairs the effectiveness of emission control systems and contributes to air pollution. Reducing the sulfur content in gasoline enables advanced emission controls and reduces air pollution."

If that makes a difference to your purchasing decision.

          • +3

@Techie4066: Which is why we miss out on a heap of decent cars and why some models have crap engines vs what they sell them with in Europe etc :/

            • +2

@buckster: Spot on, Volkswagen has spoken of this as it particularly impacts the Skoda and Cupra range they can bring in.

Or in the case of Peugeot and Renault, which both introduced the PPF to Australia in 2019, they make compromises by leaving UK-spec cars unchanged (U95 or up), or have to spend more to adapt them by removing the PPF from the exhaust since people prefer U91, and U95 will still wear the system faster in Australia.

Either way I don't want to contribute to excess pollution.

      • +2

Nope, have a Jazz and there's a label to say can even take E10 lol

At these high prices if huge differences between U91 and U95 then would lock whatever's cheapest.

      • +7

But it's definitely better long-term if you constantly use U98/U95 over U91.

Unless your car requires it, you're just donating extra to fuel companies or enjoy the placebo effect the higher priced petrol costs you

        • -6

          Not really here to argue.

          • +9

            @Tuttorix: Good, because you'd be wrong ;)

          • +6

@Tuttorix: Then don't say things which aren't true.

      But I need help,
      TY in advance

    • thanks, sent a PM

    • Please. I need help on this. Pm.

    • +1

      sorry chopper landed for now

  • +9

If your car doesn't specifically ask for 95 ron, don't bother.
Economically 91 is the best option unless your car requires specific octane.

  • -4

can someone help me to how they spoof locations with android thanks

    • You can follow the guide provided by the member here

  • gosh I filled up everything when the war first broke out.
been waiting for something like this for ages! thank you

  • -6

Disgusting that this is considered cheap now. I just went for a short drive and according to my app used $7 worth of fuel. And my car is pretty efficient..

    • +5

$7 for a short drive. Totally legit.

      • -1

Yes, used to be cheaper though. Never really think about the cost when driving other cars which don't track KM's/spend.

        • +4

Unless you consider 40km to be a short drive, then your numbers are off.

    • What app are you using?

      • Offical app for my make of car, see if yours has one

    • +1

      Why is it disgusting?

      • -2

Lol. Do you own a petrol station?

        • Lol, no. Can you answer my question please?

    • Go for a longer drive, your avg L/km will be more efficient hence cheaper :-)

    • -1

Is it? I'd like to see you refine your own fuel from crude oil after you have drilled for it and see how much it would cost to make a single litre.

People take too much for granted. Yeah I don't like that it's gone up either but it's just the way it is. This is why you save for a rainy day.

  • -1

How much is it for 98?

  • +1

Remember you can't store petrol for long periods 4 months and more as it starts going off and will suff your fuel pump , injections ,etc and E10 is even worse

    • Does the alcohol turn to vinegar??

      • +4

It can separate, change composition as the more volatile parts evaporate off and/or draw water out of the air, especially if stored improperly. The 4 month rule of thumb quoted is because nobody storing jerry cans in their shed stores it properly.

Modern, low sulphur diesel will grow fungus if it gets ANY water in it. This includes water condensing from air if the vessel is not entirely sealed. Most storage containers are not sealed or they can burst under pressure as temperature cycles. Long term bulk storage of diesel will actually displace the air volume in the tank with nitrogen for this reason. Smaller operations will use stabiliser additives if storing long term.

Had to learn all this when we used to purchase bulk fuel on the farm, we could often get it cheap but had to buy truckloads at a time. Ahh the joys of agri tax benefits.

  • Any benefit doing the occasional 95/98 between regular e10?

    • Stick on e10. 172 is still more expensive than e10.

    • I used to do it and usually the car runs better during that tank of fuel but not noticed much else afterwards.

Reckon putting the money to running fuel doctor instead of u95/98 every so often would be better e.g for getting rid of excess water in tank which could be a problem with e10.

Open disclosure I have no specialist knowledge in this area so just my observations!

    • +3

Nope, if your car doesn't require 95/98 then there is no benefit.

  • +3

DM if anyone needs a price lock.

  • +1

    Showing 180.9 now

  • +1

    Game over, thank you!

  • +2

    Literally 2mins too late. F

  • Can anyone help to lock this

  • right after i filled a full tank of u98 at the highest. ://

  • Sad. Missed out.

  • I'll be catching the bus!

Am I on OzFuelWatch.com.au? It will be a great day when ozbargain stops allowing fuel posts. Imagine if the entire website was filled with all the fuel stations around Australia.
