Not much of a bargain, is this your own website?

  • Mate, price in title, this is not a deal, a quick search will show that.

  • It seems to be about $350.00 normally, that's 100 off

  • Any better than $99 Macpac?

The Down Sweater is a more technical jacket than the Halo. More robust, lighter weight, more compressible and packable.

Ripstop fabric and 800 fill power goose down vs 600 fill power duck down on the Halo.

Whether that's worth the extra $$$ is pretty subjective though. Value for money is pretty hard to beat on the Halo, particularly if just wearing it around town.

I've owned a Down Sweater for 6-7 years now and it's seen a lot of use - countless hiking and camping trips, wore it to uni, to work and it's my go to jacket to throw on in the colder months. The elbows look a little worn in now, but other than that it's going very strong.

      $99 Macpac?

      this?

      • Looks like his hearing is sh*t and he's wearing a crap, instead of a cap.

As Harold noted - quite a few differences.

Just want to note that Patagonia stuff isn't necessarily the most "ozbargain" brand, in that you definitely spend more, but you're also paying for a lifetime warranty, better and more robust stitching, funding their clothing repair program, paying for workers to make the clothes in fair trade certified factories with better conditions and pay, and paying for a company that tries to reduce the environmental impact as much as possible. Patagonia charges more because they make products that are designed to last, and publish repair guides for their most popular ranges on ifixit so that worn out or damaged clothing can be repaired and give a new lease on life. Because of that, they're charging more upfront, worth it for some people but not all.

I know this totally sounds like a paid advert but I swear it isn't lol so I'll just put it this way: there's a reason why macpac also sells Patagonia for their more premium offerings, it's because they just don't compete on the same level.

Like Harold says, if it's just around town the macpac will be great. If you go camping or to the snow a lot, or you're in a colder part of Oz, it's worth spending the extra.
