20% off on The Good Guys gift cards when purchased at Australia Post from 30 April to 13 May.

PS: Although the deal technically starts on the 30th, some Australia Post outlets seem to be honouring the deal now.

PPS: Looks like the link has been photoshopped out of the Australia Post official catalogue. And the link has been removed from Lasoo. I've updated the link to the catalogue. It is on the bottom of page 5 of the catalogue.

    • +3

Yup. Picked up $450 worth of cards this morning. Activated at around 2pm. Purchased the following

      Ipad 2 16gb wifi $399
      Apple Smart Cover $35
      Belkin Snap Cover $16

      All for $360 ($450 - 20%)happy mothers day mum

      • +1

How can you get ipad2 for $399 before the 20% off?

        Price match DSE?

        • +1

The salesman just said it was $399 no haggling necessary. Said he won't get stock of the "new" ipad for weeks.

        • +1

iPad '2' - not the new iPad.
BigW is selling at that price.

        • +1

Yeah I know it is ipad2 but their site didn't say $399.

    • +2

I tried to use mine just now but it didn't work. They told me the usual wait 24 hours.

I did get them to discount a Breville BSG540 sandwich press down from $85 to $68 tho! Awesome price considering the cheapest online is $70 delivered

      • +1

Thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

  • +1

All out in Bentleigh Vic. How sad.

  • +3

    Yeeaahhyy i actually got sum!
but maybe i wish i didnt…. im going broke saving money..

    • I'll buy em off ya :)

  • +1

Picked up $1800 worth from the PO a few minutes ago. I cleaned out the $100 cards. Someone had cleaned out the $50 cards earlier in the day.

    • +1

      Wow still such volume around.
Really wish there was a good way to check who had stock.

    • +1

      where is it??

      • +2

What's the point? The guy already took the remaining cards.

      • +1

St Marys - The Land of Milk and Honey

  • +3

I followed OZB's "buy first, ask question later" principle.
Now comes the question: what to get with my $600 cards while new ipad isn't in stock in any TGGs across melb? (just found this out).

  • +1

If anyone is interested I saw a handful of $50 good guys vouchers when I went into Southport BC Post Office around 5 this afternoon…

  • +1

Went to two Post Offices up here in Darwin - one only had two $50 ones, nabbed those two, another one had about 6 $100 ones and about 6 $50 ones, though I only got 3x$100 and 2x$50, $500 in GC is enough for me since I don't have any particular purchases in mind at the moment.

  • +2

Got my $2400 worth of gift card from Melb GPO this morning :)
There was none on the shelf, lots of people came and walked away thinking that they have been sold out, i just queued up and ask whether they have any stock left on the back and the guy (i remember his name is Tom) brought out a pile of 40 or 50 x $100.
Still have lots (around 10+) after i left so i think it's worth a shot to ask them rather than just checking the shelf.

  • +1

Can we do rain check on this?

  • +1

Now im looking/bookmarking this thread to keep an eye out on deals and scanned receipts :D

P.S. Docklands VIC has been cleansed :D

    • +2

receipts will just be regular haggled prices…

  • +13

I feel like I stole from The Good Guys.
Bought an LG 55LM6700 today, $2999 negotiated down to $2350, paid for with gift cards. Final price of $1880.

    • +1

      that's the spirit :)

    • That is awesome… Really wish I had the cash… I'm in need of a TV haha

  • +3

Just bought 2 iPads for 398 each :D

    • +2

well done. I bought $800 in cards thinking I'd do the same..

      • +1

Haha well with the discount it comes to that. iPad 3 16 gig wifi. Still need 1k of giftcards

  • +1

    what model? 3g?

  • +1

Thanks OP picked up the cards this morning and went to Auburn GG this avo to pick up the new iPad 16G Wifi for $498.

    • Do they have any stock left other than the 16G wifi?

      • Think they have 64g '4g'

        • hi Annon123, do u know if there are any stock left of the one you bought at Auburn GG? did you get them to pricematch with bigw, DSE? as i thought they retail for $539, thanks!

        • I think I got the last 64gb 4g from Auburn yesterday - call them…

        • No, none left, I was going to get a 2nd one but they only had 1 left. Almost lost it too but lucky I reserved it in advance. Also when I reserved I made sure they were able to price match the Big W price and so they noted that when I reserved it.

Some GG won't price match. Think Bankstown had 1 but would only go down to $529. Good luck!

  • Hey Guys I ordered online with the link given above 10 Gift Cards for $802.95.Doesn't seems to be charged yet on CC details but recieved confirmation mail by Email. Please Guys help me out I am really in shit what to do now.Was at work & ordered in rush at works. Here is the link
    http://uat.shop.auspost.com.au/gifts/gift-cards

    • +1

Nothing will happen. You won't be charged, you won't receive any cards.
It's a testing site, not linked to a credit card processor.

    • +1

I did the same. Aust Post confirmed the order was not a legitimate order as that's only a test site. They also confirmed my credit card was not charged. This was confirmed by AMEX too.

They also told me this was meant to come live today but it looks like they were incorrect about that.

      • Thanks Mate Don't know why they misleading people should mentioned on top.

  • +9

Will be interesting to find out who bought the most value worth of gift cards?

    I bought 4.5k all up

    • +2

Poor arthritis for the aus post employee!

    • +6

I bought $6700 worth… Duin a new home theater setup.

      • +3

        Jesus christ!
Just think how much plastic would have been saved from the waste dumps if they just had a goddamn 20% everything sale instead.

        Freaking retarded companies.

        • Think of it as a challenge

        • That could be worse for the customer since it would either be 20% of RRP or 20% off advertised price but with gift cards, you can get 20% off negotiated price. I guess it doesn't matter if all you wanted was a 20% cheaper iPad.

      • you are wicked indeed

  • Got TGG to hold me an ipad 64GB 4G @ $853 (Big W pricematch). Decided to head back to the post office (Green Valley, NSW) and it seems the stack of cards that was present this morning was still there, untouched.

    • Any left there?

  • When do the cards expire? Can you buy them online. I wanted an iPad 3 but maybe they all sold out for now but I don't mind waiting if the cards are still good.

    • +1

You can't buy them online at the moment. They expire in 1 year. Keep in mind if good guys go bust the cards will be worthless(I have't heard anything to indicate that they will but in this day and age you never know)

  • +1

I tried a few places in Adelaide with no luck. Will continue the hunt tomorrow :)

  • +2

    There are still HEAPS around

Think ill get a ps3 $299 price match Target

    Total= $240

    Good deal?

    http://target.dynamiccatalogue.com.au/portal/embedofferdetai…

  • +3

Go to TGG and demand that they match the price of the giftcards as per their price match policy, then once they have agreed use your giftcards from the post office to buy the giftcards ;)

    • +1

I dont think they can match it as it is now out of stock …
Happy to see if anyone success..

Giftcard also cannot buy giftcard ?!

      • Yep you be lucky if you find a GG that will let you buy gift cards with giftcards. No point having an expiry then.

  • I went to a PO in Townsville today, picked up 11 x $100 cards from stand. When I informed them about the 20% off the guy (who previously had no idea about the discount)said that there is a limit on those. He then told me he could only sell me 5 if I was paying by CC.
BTW they had about 20 more $100 and the same in $50 still on the stand.
I went to another PO, picked up the 11 I was after and paid for them without an issue.

    • I was concern about the limit as well but there is nothing there in their advertising saying you can only buy 1 or 5.
The guy at the PO must want the cards for himself. I paid $1100 worth all on Credit Card without and issue.

    • vincent which PO in Townsville did you go to?
      cheers,

      • Funnily enough the first one was Vincent Village( no I don't live in Vincent) and the second one was Castletown.
Both had a lot on the stands yesterday but I haven't been back to check today.

  • +1

    ORMOND, McKinnon none there.

Bentleigh PO had a about $1500 work for cards. I took $1100 worth so only $400 worth of cards left there.

Went to TGG and asked what best price for 64G WIFI new Ipad. They did not have any in stock but said can order and drop the price a bit from $759 and I asked them to price match BigW ($748) but before I could say that, he said he can get me one on the next delivery for $729. Effectively, making the 64G WIFI Ipad $583.20!!! Wuhoo. Placed the deposit for the next delivery. Using the gift cards. 1 hour after I purchased the gift cards.

Anyone want to buy a new Ipad 64G Wifi for $650?.. haha Just kidding.

Good Luck to all out there. Apple don't really do much sale so this was a great post and great saving !!

    • Can I please get your receipt for this? Thanks.

  • Picked up 800$ in gifts this morning. They were activated around 2pm at which time I went and picked up a new Ipad 64GB 4G for $698 in total.

  • Bought a LG 55LM7600 (RRP $3300) for $2550, witch means $2040 out of pocket. I'm very happy.

  • Got $1100 worth in Hobart, and have an Ipad 3 16gb Wifi @ $498 on hold at TGG Moonah waiting for collection tomorrow. My cards were not activated until this arvo, but they still had issues in processing. No issues though, happy as. Will be looking at video cam's now..possibly http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/moonah/Sony_HDRPJ200_Full_HD_F…

    • which PO did you get your cards from?

      • Moonah. Straight from the stand. Found out one guy was in the week before, and he had at least $1000+ put away ready to pay today. There was still several hundred $ left on the stand when I left.

        • Doh… I called them up before midday and they told me there was only 1 x $50 left. When did you go in?

        • Was in just after 9. The LPO's didn't have any.

  • I heard Aus Post will get more in, is it true?

    • +1

      Who did you hear from?

      • -1

        Someone posted here.

        • Post office said so.

Not sure if they actually knew what they were talking about though.

  • +1

Woohoo, got Dyson DC35 Animal with the extension pole normally RRP $499 for $389, then take 20% off that, pretty good for a dyson vacuum, which rarely go on special! Picked up the new ipad as well for $497 price beat BigW, take 20% off that, all from O'Connor WA

Cards took around an hour to activate from when I purchased them

    • Nice, I picked up the DC34 from the AmEx deal. They are one goddamn powerful machine! Very impressed.

      • +1

        They suck.

    • Nice. Is O'Connor doing I pads/apple now. Last time I checked they didnt actually do them.

    • where do you go to check if the cards are activated yet?

      thanks !

      • +1

ring the number on the back of the card, and key in the card nbr and pin.

  • Fingers crossed everyone - its looking less likely that TGG will go bust:

    https://twitter.com/#!/TheGoodGuysAU/status/1953291825893908…

  • anyone seen this in brisbane?

nothing in the CBD today… GRRRR

    • Did you go to the counter and ask them?

    • When I bought them on last thursday from there, there was nothing being put out for display. I have to ask the lady to search at the back and I eventually took all the 50s, as there was no 100 left.

  • Got an IPAD 3 (New Ipad) from Auburn after the cards became active around 1:35pm

Lady at counter said A LOT of people were calling asking TGG to sell them the cards at 20% off….

    • Did those people get what they want?

  • Does anyone know if you can price match from an online store? This one is quite a bit cheaper than the one at Good Guys.

    http://www.billyguyatts.com.au/electrolux-5kg-sensor-vented-…

    • Isn't price haggling the whole point of GG? I was amazed that they offered me a Breville sandwich press for $68 after I asked if they'd match Internet pricing. Their ticket was $84.. cheapest online I'd found it was $59 + $9 shipping. Harris Scarfe over the road had it for $99

  • Anyone from melbourne southeast got any luck yet.I will go today for tgg card hunt???? any suggestions ???

  • +1

My PO made me pay on MasterCard instead of my Amex. This was a normal PO in the Sydney CBD. Doesn't sound like anyone else had this problem.

    • +1

They let me pay with Amex….

    • +1

I offered my Amex to the AP Clerk- she hesitated and said lets give it a go…to her surprise it went thru…of course i have no problem normally paying for their usual services with amex.

  • I was in Bright, Vic yesterday as fate would have it. Went to the PO at opening - no gift cards for TGG. They seemed to claim they don't stock them. Funny, they had all the other gift cards. By the time I made it to Myrtlesford later in the day they were sold out.
I'm really disappointed. I really could use a 16GB Wifi iPad at a discount, money is really tight.

    • +9

haha money is really tight and you're considering buying an ipad — what a goose!

  • Can we do rain check on this one

  • Just picked up some Best Restaurant gift cards from Aus Post with the 20% off. Didn't see any Good Guys gift cards left at the two post offices I visited (Royal Melbourne Hospital and Glenroy) but heaps of Best Restaurant. And some of the Best Restaurant participating restaurants also have Entertainment Book vouchers.

    • Do you think they will stack? Ie you can use the Ent Book and get discount and then use the gift card to pay for the final bill? I actually looked through the restaurant list on the gift card website to see if I am interested to try any and then realized the ones I want to try are in the Ent Book. So automatically assumed they won't stack.

      • Gift cards are generally like cash.
The merchant you use them at has no idea if you paid full price or had a discount on them, nor does it matter to them.
