Does JB Hi-Fi move on pricing of Apple laptops now?

Ive had 2 people I know recently brag that they have gotten deals on Apple from haggling down JBs staff. Do they do this now? As far as I was aware if they do anything more than 10% (if that promotions on anywhere else) they can lose their license to sell Apple products.

For example:

One of my friends says he got the 15" Macbook Pro for $1,500 when retail is $2,100
Another says he got the 13" Air for $1,200 where it retails for $1,450

This was in the last month or so.

I personally think they are talking bs (as they always seem to get a deal of the century on everything they buy). but im interested to know if they do move on Apple pricing now.

    Never heard of anyone getting better than 10% off on a new product so would be interested to know if those prices were legit or if they were spinning you a line.

    You could probably get better on their display models if you were so inclined. I'm not, but someone must be.

      20% Good Guys Gift Card thing would probably work on getting a product [in the end] with 20%. [In reply to your 1st statement] :)

    They are never allowed to sell display models until the model has been run out, that's apples rules. And the products are only given 12% margin from apple. So they will not get more than the usual 10%. Unless they bought 3rd party extras with high margins?

      Yeah I thought that was the case. I know apples selling guidelines are very strict as I know someone who is a manager of a JB Hifi and asked him if there was anything he could do for me on an ipad.

      These people are idiots as they constantly brag about how they are great hagglers and always get everything at cost price or below cost price. I always knew they were talking out their arse but when they said they did it for a macbook it raised alarmbells in my head, I might call them out on it when I see them next.
