Upgrades are broken into 3 pathways:
* Same Type - Hold an Existing RePL and want to get a heavier licence (i.e. upgrade 7kg Multi Rotor to 25kg Multi Rotor)

Introduction
Wicked Copters is Australia's only CASA-approved training school to offer the CASA-Issued RePL courses for Multi Rotor ("Drones"/DJI), Aeroplane, Helicopter and Powered Lift. We have been in this industry since 2011, and operate/been involved with swarms, EVLOS, BVLOS, FPV and even light shows/pyrotechnics.
Many "drone schools" state to be the first, largest, etc - they generally offer only Multi Rotor courses some have 7kg aeroplane and one does 7kg powered lift. My aviation background started before there were courses for "drones". I hold a PPL(Helicopter) and IREX from the manned world and a sub 25kg RePL for Multi Rotor, Aeroplane, Helicopter and Powered Lift. How long is the course?
The Multi Rotor course has 3 days of theory and 2 days of practical. The additional types add half a day of theory and half a day of practical flying each. We can spread the theory out over a number of weeks and you do not have to rush to complete it.
Part of the practical component is a closed-book assessment. CASA do impose limits to the number of reattempts, to date no student has ever required attending the entire theory again (i.e. bad marks multiple times). We do a detailed review of your progress throughout the theory and prior to the written assessment. If you have any learning disabilities, please let us know, so we can manage them in a CASA-approved way throughout the course.
What is included?
All courses above include the Radio Licence and English Requirements (known as AROC/ELP). All costs as well - we supply printed and digital textbooks, pay all CASA fees for the RePL/AROC and ELP (valid for life) and we supply the training aircraft (not to keep). The price includes GST.
Please note the AROC requires the person to be 17, and no minimum age for the RePL however we have found 16 to be a reasonable age to pass the assessments.
Each course exceeds CASA's requirements set out in the Manual of Standards for Part 101 (unmanned aircraft). Each course requires Theory (conducted via our Virtual Classroom [LIVE training] by our CASA-approved instructors with the approved syllabus) and Practical (assessments/flying; again conducted face-to-face by our CASA-approved instructors with the approved syllabus).

What else might I need?

The ReOC, which we can offer as well, is typically around $2700 for the initial drafting of documents and the first year fee. There after it is approximately $500 per 3 years.
The best value bundle for the RePL 7kg Multi Rotor, AROC/ELP and ReOC is $3495.
Obviously, you need to have a drone to operate as well; and this requires a rego fee of $40pa. We can help you determine the best drone you need; after all this is the point of OzBargain!
Must I have an RePL/ReOC?
