Mounting 55" Samsung - but Cable Not Long Enough

Hi guys, I have a 55" Samsung MU7000 which came with the hub.

We have decided to belatedly get the TV mounted and get the cables to run down through the wall. The issue is:
1) the power cable for the TV doesn't seem to be long enough
2) the cable from the TV to the hub is also not long enough

Now I'm sure others have also run into this issue. Can I please get some help/advice, as I can't find longer cables online.

Thanks.

So you need a power cable and HDMI cable?
How long do you need them?

Long enough to reach. About the length of the string I have.

      Try Jaycar.

  • Is the power cable permanent connected to the TV or plugged in?

  • Power cable connected from TV to power point. Can be removed.

Then there is a cable which runs from the Samsung TV to the hub (one connect box) - this looks like some proprietary cable, not HDMI.

All devices (Fetch, PS, Sonos Playbar) then connect directly to the one connect box.

  • Measure cables prior to mounting TV. :) Check measurements. Then check again.

Can you wall mount the one connect box? I'm guessing the Samsung hub cables are non-extendable for a reason.

Samsung sell the One Connect cables in longer versions, may have to import though.

Make a small cavity/niche in the wall behind the TV and get an Electrician to wire power/antenna/Ethernet socket there. Hide the one connect box in there and this is the more elegant way of doing this.

    • That is neat … so is this cavity and one connect box just behind the TV? I'm assuming then you have to run all device cables up (through) the wall to hook up to the one connect box? Also then how hard/easy it is to connect/disconnect devices from the one connect box?

      • I was using the Samsung slim wall mount but if you are using 3rd party mounts you may find the gap between the wall and the tv wide enough to tuck the one connect box in and run the remaining cables through the wall like you originally planned. This method does not need any modifications to the wall but be aware this gap may vary from bracket model to model.

In my case I haven't had any need so far to connect/disconnect anything often as I stream everything locally and via internet. But if you use things like external hard drives or USB sticks then run a USB extension cable from the one connect box with all other cables through the wall and use the other end to connect your USB media
