Wanna know if the fingerprint sensor works with it…

    • +1

Fingerprint sensor works with every screen protector I've ever used, so I'm sure this one from a known name would also work.

      • Which phone u got?

        • S20 fe so an underscreen ultrasonic sensor

          • +2

@AlmightyBeing: S20 FE has an optical fingerprint sensor, not ultrasonic like the S20.

My S21 ultrasonic doesn't play particularly nice with any glass protectors besides UV glued ones, although these ones look like they get around that issue by not having glass in the fingerprint region.

            • @ThisIsHughJass: My mistake, I've been looking at the s21 reviews too much 😅

              • @AlmightyBeing: Do u feel it lost some ensitivities over the glass protector?

                • @samelight: Nope I didn't notice any difference

                  • @AlmightyBeing: just received it and not as responsive as the pre-install screen protector,
the fingerprint sensor works fine but when i double tap to lock screen, it just not always working as be4.

oh also not as smooth as the pre-install one, so weird glass should be smoother then plastic right ?

            • +2

@ThisIsHughJass: Seen those types of screen protectors on friends' phones; looks mighty weird with a small cutout in the lower half of the screen. Would probably feel kinda weird when using it.

            • @ThisIsHughJass: I tried a cheap UV glued on my note 20, didn't work. Only certain glass protectors work which are usually expensive

              • @abs898: Did you re-register prints afterwards? I've had some eBay ones work for around $10 until I broke them, but the best all round install experience was with the amFilm kit (2-pack) for $51 off Amazon so completely agree on the expensive part of some of them

                • @ThisIsHughJass: I sure did. It didn't register my fingerprint at all, kept saying press harder.

I moved on to using Matt finish after that, not as strong but looks amazing.

            • +1

@ThisIsHughJass: Exactly… My S21 Ultra was not working with 1 Tempered Glass Protector
(I forgot the brand as I did in a small shop and didnt expect there is a problem later), no matter re-registering the fingerprint or not.

Those selling over Amazon are some kind of transparent soft plastic protector, which is not smooth for the touch like tempered glass…
I am still struggling with those soft one working with the ultrasonic fingerprint, and trying to look for a tempered glass works with the sensor.

              • +1

@CyrusL: Amfilm offers a tempered glass option on Amazon too, this is what I used

                • @ThisIsHughJass: Thanks mate, let me check on it.
Some reviews there is not good but still some said working fine.
Will give it a try when its price falls :)

              • @CyrusL: I dropped my s21 ultra on rocks face down today. Thought the screen had cracks under the pre installed protector.
Went to a store and they fitted a glass one, liquid to glue it down, curved sides. Was told fingerprint will work.
Unfortunately fingerprints don’t work and they gave me my money back.
Now I have no protector, have you found one that works yet?

(And there were no cracks on the screen thank goodness)

      • I just got a $90 glass protector installed for my s21 ultra and the fingerprint doesn’t work, can’t register fingers either.
Seller gave me my money back.
It fitted and looked great too, just couldn’t read fingerprints anymore.

    • It will work, but your overall touch sensitivity will be reduced.

Other alternative screen protectors are gel/flexible protectors, but they're definitely harder to install.

    • It will work but it won't work be very good. It's hit and miss and I have to press harder to get it to work.

    • Didn't work for me on s21

    • Yep used this same glass over my S21 ultra for a year. Need to press harder and need to register the same fingerprint more than one time. There's also a little circle cut out which I think is where the glass is thinner over the fingerprint reader. Finally took this glass off last week and didn't realise the screen colours were so nice.

    for Samsung what?

    • for Samsung Galaxy

      • Samsung Galaxy what?

        • My attempt at a jv-style joke has failed.

            @YeemaiI:

My attempt at a jv-style joke has failed.

You should have posted a link

  • No S22 (Ultra) :(

    • Everyone got a free Samsung care+, DW about the screen protector

      • You still pay excess money though I think

        • And will get a refurb unit, not a brand new one.

          • @tukanglistrik: Screens are stronger than what they used to be. Yeah excess is 150, I usually swap twice before it runs out.

            • @abs898: Were you sent a refurb unit or brand new?

              • @tukanglistrik: It's always refurb but you can't tell the difference, looks new from the outside.

    • yeah.. mine rocked up yesterday unexpectedly and looking for some protection

  • Same price for buying 2.

  • I use to love these on the S8. They are terrible with the S20. Basically its a floating glass protector with a stupid sticky dot in the middle of the screen for the finger print sensor which is highly visable and not very responsive.

  • +2

as most people mentioned above, NOT GOOD FOR finger print sensor for NUGLAS 3D Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Samsung S20 Plus, just got mine yesterday tried it on, NOT USEABLE AT ALL, unless you tried it very hard.

I recommend DO NOT BUY if you want to use the finger print sensor.

    Hope this is useful.
