Get a Free Domain Name for Life! with Any Hosting Plan Purchased

05

Greetings,

We are offering a free domain name for life! with any hosting account purchased from us. We only give business grade hosting suitable and tailored for small businesses. Our hosting accounts are free from many restrictions some other hosting providers plans so we think we have a unique offer and bundled with a free domain name the offer is even better.

Hosting accounts start as cheap as $120 a year inc gst. Your hosting plan grows as your business grows.

Domain names typically cost anywhere from $10-$50 a year depending on where you look. But you dont have to worry about that anymore, just pay the year hosting fee and we will automatically pay your domain name renewals forever!

If your interested follow the link and read more about us or our offer on our website

No catch!, no contracts, no other hidden fees! the deal is as transparent as this ozbargain offer!

isn‘t this just a package deal? As in your domain name registration/renewal is included in the price of hosting.

edit : what i mean is that this isnt really for life it‘s only whilst I use the hosting company. Once I take my hosting elsewhere you aren‘t going to continue to pay my domain registration, so this deal isn‘t for "life"

    • Greetings, as the offer mentions ive tried to make it as transparent as possible with no hidden agenda. If you have hosting with us the domain name is in fact free if you continue to host with us, some offers maybe would give 1 year free domain name but have not heard of many offering it free forever.

I just find this incomprehensible: "500mb Disk Space p/m"
So… i get 500mb disk space PER MONTH?

  • almost standard with any web host now. this will become a real pain when you want to move to a new host as these 'free for life' domain names are often registered in the hosters names and you will most likely have to pay them an extra fee to transfer it to a new registrar.
i would always keep domain registration and web host separate. i've had bad experience with one of these 'free for life' deals with a different company when their hosting turned useless and i couldn't get my domain back…

Thanks for the negative feedback david, maybe you should have asked a couple questions before jumping to conclusions.

The domain name is not a hoster domain name eg. yourdomain.menkom.com.au. It is infact a free proper registered domain name eg. www.yourdomain.com.au or .com

We have NO TRANSFER FEES at all.

On a side note your domain is registered under YOUR NAME not our business name so your free to migrate if you wish at any time.

      Cheers.

      • This has been a standard for years, hasn't it?

Sorry but those hosting plans are a total ripoff - the bandwidth caps are ridiculously low. See for example Digital Pacific:

    http://www.digitalpacific.com.au/hosting/business-web-hostin…

Their $149/year BASIC plan beats the pants off your $360/year "Business Pro" plan. If you don't care for a dedicated IP (I.e. not using SSL) then it even almost beats your highest $960/year plan (only shorting you of 5GB webspace) - leaving plenty of room to add a dedicated IP at $69/year if I need it.

Want another point of comparision? How about the very well known Crucial Paradigm:

    http://www.crucial.com.au/web-hosting/business.php

Crucial's $289/year plan also almost beats your top tier plan (short by 10GB webspace), unless you really love your FTP accounts and add on domains too much! $489/year will match your top tier webspace and give almost 4x the bandwidth to boot.

In a day and age where domain names usually cost well under $30/year, this is a terrible deal.

  • This isn't free, you need to pay for a plan which is at a rip-off price.

This is a horrible deal. No catches except you have to pay a rip off price for hosting.

Thanks for the feedback guys, we are not a hosting company per se eg like Netregistry, however our deals are suited to small businesses backed by personalised support, there is no use buying hosting that offers 20GB of transfers when really you may be doing 500mb.

When you compare our plans to smaller fish eg resellers we are very good and we offer great personalised support. Obviously you can go register a hosting account with crazy domains and be one of the 50,000 users on a shared server and wait on hold for 25 minutes to speak to someone low level tech support person that treats you as a number rather than a valued customer. In the end you pay for what you get as well.

    Cheers.

    • Well, maybe you choose wrong advertising then.
If your offer would be "Business grade webhosting, max 50 sites per server, 99.99% SLA and speak with our friendly local customer support within 3 minutes anytime" - that would be a bargain.
So far, your deal is just an advertising for a service which is no better than almost any other.
And you choose really really bad approach to advertising with the deceptive "Domain for life" statement.
If you change the ad and put in something why should your offer is a bargain I am happy to take away my neg.

  • With that measly amount of bandwidth allocated, heading towards Crucial Paradigm (http://www.crucial.com.au/) for SOHO hosting is probably better. They are hosting OzBargain (or used to) and they take hits from us pretty well.

We use Menkom for our hosting and they do provide a very good personalised service. We were annoyed with dealing with the bigger guys, especially when we had some unexpected downtime. We were reccomended to Menkom by another company. We are located in Fairfield and Menkom was at Wetherill Park so it was good to also meet these people face to face. As i understand Menkom runs their own servers. In the past 4 years i have not had an issue with downtime, with the exception on one occasion when someone in the office forogt their email password and hammered the login resulting in our IP being put on a blocked list. A quick call and my issue was fixed within minutes over the phone speaking to the tech guys at menkom.
