Hi guys, looking at getting some new pairs of sheets and not sure between bamboo or egyptian cotton. I'm looking to spend around $100-150 per fitted sheet for a double bed.
Every thread asking here seems to have different suggestions, looking at ettitude/canningvale/pillowtalk at the moment but open to other suggestions.
Bamboo vs Egyptian Cotton Bed Sheets
Comments
I only use bamboo sheets in summer. Cotton sheets are good for spring and autumn and flannelette sheets are for those below 0oC nights. Bamboo sheets feel cold to touch, hence they are amazing in summer time, but are a bit too cold when the weather is not too hot.
My favourite brand for bamboo sheets is Pure Zone. I used to get a whole set for $40 when they had a clearance.
I also bought from Sleeping Alchemy before but I found that their sheets are thinner than those from Pure Zone and a tiny bit too short for my mattress.
These are hands down the best sheets regardless of price the wife has ever had and i agree

Tried bamboo but they can only be washed at max 30oC
Sheets and towels should be washed at 60oC to kill the mites they say??!
I ran Sherican 400tc cotton sateen for years, loved them but I have noticed that quality seems to be lowering a bit. Decided to try something new, but couldn't decide between cotton or bamboo, so got a set of each. Cotton side I got, https://blessedearth.com.au/collections/sheet-sets-all-60-70… , and for bamboo https://www.thesleepingalchemy.com/collections/a/products/ul… .
Bamboo sheets, nice feel, quite cool, but bit thin and not a fan how they go sliding everywhere. Blessed Earth cotton sheet, feel heavy and you assume they will be hot as crap, but weirdly no. I feel like they are cooler than the thin feeling bamboo sheets. I also feel like these cotton sheets will last 10+ years, like your grandparent's old cotton sheets.
"not a fan how they go sliding everywhere"
Ditto. I toss a bit in my sleep and the fitted pops off the corner and top sheet slides right off the bed!
1k+ count, Egyptian cotton is great— very smooth and soft, and everything stays where it should. Only downside might be certain bedclothes materials make it hard to turn over— like a friction effect?
Just bought canningvale bamboo sheets a month ago because I upgraded to a King from a Queen and wanted to try them - they are very light and smooth, almost like silk (and my sensitive skin doesn't have a reaction to it)
I used to have the cotton ones from canningvale (1000tc) for my queen (I don't think they sell that range anymore) - they are a lot thicker than the bamboo and even smoother, but were slightly more expensive ($70+ more per set, years ago).
I heard on a radio show a few weeks ago people saying that French or Italian Linen sheets were far better than Bamboo or Cotton … no idea if it's true.
Might need a 2nd mortgage to buy a few sets though.
Gave into the hype and tried some last year and wasn't impressed. Not sure how to explain but the French linen sheets felt rough and dry.. I highly recommend feeling the sheets in a store before buying as they feel very odd :s
Would highly recommend the canningvale Mille or Egyptian royale or sofi for the lush, silky romantic feel :D :P
Egyptian cotton if you want a plush, silky, smooth quality feel.
I personally find bamboo feels rather thin, lite and cheap. But then again everyones personal preference varies.Just returned some canningvale bamboo sheets coz they were too thin for my liking. But the canningvale mille are incredible and super luxurious, silky and rich. Also liked canningvale Egyptian Royale and would highly recommend it. Cheers!
Thanks, i'm trying to decide between the canningvale mille 1000TC cotton or the egyptian royale.
You might have to order Egyptian royale coz Mille might be out of stock.
Mille were sold out a month ago with a long wait list. But do Let me know if you can get your hands on some I'd like to order more. Cheers!
Well which one do you prefer? It's an individual choice.
