  • Wasn't this the title of the very first battlefield game? It was such a revolution in gaming when that was released. Similar to the effect of counter strike. Studies took a big hit with that game.

The original was BF1942, this was a partial remake at some later point I believe.

      • +1

Yes, of course! Thanks for that bit of info. I used to play it with a couple of friends on Lan.

1942 was the first, think 2002? 1943 was quite a few years later and wasnt available on pc IIRC

    • Yeah but i bet the newer ones are crippled so you have to use their servers now

  • FYI to anyone who is that way inclined, the game works fine still (or at least it did when I played it last a year or two back), but the achievements are no longer attainable, I think it was bc when everything transferred from GameSpy, though I could be wrong. Either way, unless it's been fixed back up since, you're gonna get 0GS from this one.

  • thought this was the new new new one (that everyone seems to hate).

You can keep the upvote though, I got plenty :p

    • +1

nah, this one is 99years earlier

      • And yet somehow superior…

        • everything in the past was better

  • +2

Better on Series X? Still people playing online?

  • +2

Is this version different to the one you can get on Xbox as part of EA play?

  • Does anyone have any idea where to get Battlefield 1942 for PC?

    • +1

Probably eBay at this point mate! There was also a separately available expansion (when that's how you got DLC lol) that was pretty cool but I remember tough to get a game online as not many people had it.

Was a great game, nothing flying a B17 in Africa or your aircraft carrier right up to the beach 🤣

      • +3

Agreed, I downloaded BF1943 on the Xbox but it's nowhere the same. Will check eBay.

My favourite was to fly to a Japanese Aircraft carrier and parachute onto their deck and destroy all their planes as they took off :-) Still my favourite game of all time.

        • Haha I remember using that exact tactic myself 🤣 Going to have to see if I still have my copy in a box somewhere after this.

    • They gave it away for free on Origin for a few years. You can probably find a mirror someone made of the files, it's basically abandonware these days. Need a third party master server fix to play online too.

    • +2

It’s definitely available, and lots of people still play online. Just requires a couple of patches. Have a look for it as abandonware on Google.

    I usedto love bf1942

  • Will this work on Xbox 360? It says on site it's xbox one key

  • +1

For anyone who missed the deal they have got Battlefield 1 Revolution (the "complete" edition of bf1 with the dlcs) bundled with bf1943 for $8 which is a good deal if you don't own either game. Currently $4 for bf1943 by itself.
