7x Everyday Rewards on Gift Cards (Targeted) - Best Use?

I've received what I assume is a targeted offer from Everyday Rewards, which is 7x points on gift cards from Woolworth, Dan's and BWS. I'm still getting my head around these offers but was hoping for some advice to see if this is even worth bothering with.

What's the best use of this offer? Does AMEX normally give points when buying gift cards? Can I buy a single big value Woolworths gift card but also use it at Dan's \ BWS?

It's only available online through their site. I'm assuming that means no 5% off offers?

Any advice is much appreciated!

It is almost identical to this offer. I think a couple of people in the comments also received the deal you got.

Does AMEX normally give points when buying gift cards?

Yes (and this is from personal experience).

Fun fact: the Woolworths Group gift card portal appears to be categorised as a supermarket, so AMEX will think you’re spending lots of money at a supermarket, not on gift cards.

Can I buy a single big value Woolworths gift card but also use it at Dan's \ BWS?

    No.

You can try to redeem a Woolworths Supermarkets gift card at a non-participating retail, but you’ll get an error message. One time, I accidentally tried redeeming a BIG W gift card (starting with 628000 712) at Woolworths, and the EFTPOS terminal returned an error.

It's only available online through their site. I'm assuming that means no 5% off offers?

At least one comment seems to suggest the bonus point offer will stack with the discounted gift card portals you get from automotive clubs, Student Edge, etc. That’s probably the best use of the offer.

Can also confirm that Amex give you points. Why wouldn't they? They can't tell what you buy at the supermarket. Are you new to Amex OP?

      • Thought they might see it as a cash advance or some shenanigans like that… buying credit with credit type of thing.

$1000 gift cards gives you $35 in rewards points and probably $5 in cc points. So your benefit are around 4%

    If my maffs isn’t horrible
