  • And so it begins. Hope for ozb LG price fight this with the C1, let the discount wars begin!

    • +1

Sorry for the ignorance but are there tv discounts/price wars coming up soon?

      • +2

New tvs are out this year

      • +2

With so close to April (around the time the new models launch in the USA) i suspect this is probably the last batches coming through. You could wait to see for more sales but its a risk of stock.

      • Sorry for the ignorance but are there tv discounts/price wars coming up soon?

The electronics industry has followed the auto industry and adopted a yearly release cycle for marque products. This means as you approach the new release dates, the old stock goes on sale.

Great for a bargain, can't be good for 'the environment'…

  • This or 75" X90j ?

  • +4

Wow. Rare for Sony to do a good discount on their OLEDs.

2022 OLED TVs are coming out.

      EOL that's why

    This or 75" QN85A?

    • +6

      This or 100x 32" soniq TVs ?

Do we really need to ask this question every Sony or Lg post …

      • -3

        Why not both?

      • +2

Yeah, I agree. People know what conditions the TV will be in and used for: size and brightness of room; playing games or not and what content is watched - movies, sport, free to air etc. Do a little research and read or watch a few reviews as apposed to asking random people their opinion.

    • This.

    • +1

The Sony if you have blinds to dim the room , otherwise the Samsung

  • This or C1? still undecided..
I don't play games only watch streaming or free to air.

    • +2

The Sony hands down…it has superior upscaling, out of the box accuracy and its processor is light year's ahead of LG

      • +1

Thanks. I will trust you mate and will pull the trigger today.

        • +2

I was on the fence yesterday but when I called my local HN they gave me the C1 77" for $5100, the A80J unfortunately they couldn't go below the 5995 price. I bought the C1, I'm sure the a80j is a bit better but not at $900!

          • +1

@Bogan Timmy: Lucky you I got mine for $5450, yeah on rtings the Sony its rated 0.1 better but people carry on like the Sony is "light years" better 🤣🤦‍♂️

            • @solidussnake: Lg has essentially released the same Oled TV for 3 years running…the C9 is actually brighter than C1 and full bandwidth 48Gbps not 40gbps….
Only this year's C2 features an improved processor and reverts back to full bandwidth with the promise of an EVO panel….btw all 77" model C1's and A80J's have EVO only the smaller sizes are a lottery but if it has pink tinting it's EVO..there's a serial number on box has an EVO identifier too

You may as well get a C9 or Cx if you can find one

      • it has superior upscaling, out of the box accuracy and its processor is light year's ahead of LG

        Plus Android TV…

      • Don't you work for Sony though?

C1 still rated the best OLED so far, superior upscaling/processor is laughable although colour accuracy out of the box I tend to agree but it takes two seconds to use recommend online profiles anyway and the android os isn't the best or the remote.

Depends what price you can get each for

      • -1

I have the Sony A90J coming from LG C9 and CX…its no contest and the A80J and A90J are pretty damn close sharing the same XR processor..
Also if your in the minority with both a PS5 and XBSX you can buy a HDMI 2.1 splitter on Amazon for $30 to add more ports…VRR is coming in update but not needed in my experience as consoles use adaptive synch technology..gaming is not an excuse to prefer the C1

      • -2

Last year's C1 were a panel lottery to get an 'EVO' panel and even one that were had a software restriction….Sony A80J EVO's had no restriction and also a full 48Gbps bandwidth….Evo is more power efficient and has better longevity with less chance of burn in
I'd pay a little more for the Sony myself

        • +1

Is the a80j using evo panel? Afaik its a lottery as well no?

          • @Spectre7: None of them have evo panel as far as I know.

            • +2

              @JL1: 77 always did
65 bought now almost certainly will
              55 not sure

              • @Astronaut Joe: How do you tell if you have the EVO panel?

                • @klif-e: Apparently the only way to know is to use a calibration camera/tool to see what the specs of the screen are. There is zero outside markings which give it away.

              • @Astronaut Joe: I was referring to the 65" only I mean. But I am pretty sure reading that the 65" didn't come with evo panel at all when it released but the 77 did.

I don't think they have ever put the evo panel in an a80j. Correct me if I am wrong but I have never seen it stated online.

                • +2

@JL1: While never officially confirmed, numerous reviews - and unofficially by Sony reps - have all stated that the 77" A80J has the evo panel. Vincent has also categorically stated that all 77s are evos. I can confirm that mine has the distinctive purple reflective tinge that is a giveaway for the panel.

In the US when the 65" first came out, some were appearing with the evo panel and some without; it was a tossup as to which one you would get. Over time though they all moved to using the evo. Given the delay in the sets being released in Australia the odds were that you would get an updated one, but first adopters may have got one of the older models. If you bought now you would be getting new stock.

I don't know what the story is on the 55". I never bothered looking into the smaller models.

          • @Spectre7: You get an EVO panel on A80J it actually benefits from it…as stated C1 with EVO has software restriction, only the G1 benefits

            • @[Deactivated]: Your A90J has the evo panel though and heatsink to take advantage of it too I think. Don't know about evo in 65 a80j

              • +1

@JL1: Your guaranteed an EVO in 77" and above…
65" and 55" you can tell by serial number on box or if it has a pink tinting to the screen on full white screen

                • @[Deactivated]: Ah ok would need to check. Pink tinting to the screen on full white?

                  • @JL1: https://youtu.be/u8mHS5eM57I
That's on C1 and yes it should have off axis pink tinting on A80J and in service menu tell you whether it's wbe or wbc panel

                    • +1

@[Deactivated]: Just checked my box and apparently it's an evo panel, interesting video thanks 👍

    • +1

Not side by side comparison by any means, but when I go to the JB HI Fis, I've always thought the Sony OLED looks better than the LG ones. I always thought those zingy names for their chips, upscaling techs and processors were all mostly marketing, but it seems in this case Sony was able to make a difference in performance.

    • As rtings say, whichever is cheaper.

      • I wouldn't waste my money on a C1 no matter how much cheaper it is…new models have updated processor and guaranteed EVO ,full bandwidth 48Gbps..this year's G2 and Sony QD-Oled has heatsinks….get a good 5 year warranty if you go C1

        • Your bias towards the Sony is physically palpable at this point. Yes anyone that’s been paying close enough attention would acknowledge the Sony ticks more boxes than not. However this night and day difference you’ve conjured between them is baffling.

          • @TsundereGuy: I'm talking from my personal experience not YouTube or sponsored reviews…
I have the LG C9 and CX and Sony A90J still and have spent extensive time with all of them and still do….most people just recycle what others say that's not me

            • @[Deactivated]: Mate, you really are a shocker.
You've been ambiguously spruiking Sony on every Sony vs LG post since November.
If you don't work for Sony, I'll eat my hat.

              • @Unsafe: I'm just stating the facts and I will share what I think are exceptional products particularly at a fantastic price like this…I think most people are happy to spend a little more to get the better product if that upsets you or you have buyer's remorse that's on you..cheapest doesn't mean best never has
                I hope your wearing a Sombrero..lol

  • Hmm , not long ago in AU..going to a shop and asking for a better price ,used to help get a better price
    -is that still an option?

  • Nice, giving Sony's price match a go.

    • Interested to hear how you go with this!

  • +3

You can also apply for Sony Store Price Match and get a free delivery because they have free delivery on orders over $200.

Don’t forget CR 7% cash back while you are there.

    • +2

Yeah don't forget the cashback, I got like $200+ from Sony from my last year purchased, my biggest ever cashback, that was a surprise.

      • How do you get Cashback on price match?

        • +1

Once priced match, item will be on your shopping cart. Just login to shopback (mine via shopback), refresh the cart page and complete the purchase. I didn't expect it to work but it was a good bonus for me.

    • Has anyone had CR work with Sony store after doing a Sony price match? I read on another post that people weren't sure that CR would work with Sony after having done a price match yourself, as it's a 'negotiated deal'.

      • CashRejected(CashReward), these guys are known to reject perfectly valid cashback.

      • +1

Done it successfully with both SB and CR each more than once. CR rejected once a year ago (after pending in their system 2-3 months), blaming that Sony did not pay them or Sony did not track…

  • +1

    65 is gone from TGG?

    • Yea it's gone from their website. Dammit and I was about to head into the store today to buy it!

      • Same here bummer.

      • I've had one on order since very early Jan, still waiting for stock.

Supposedly our set is on a truck from Sydney now as new stock arrived in Sydney on the 09/02.

Paid $3300 which at the time was a good price compared to the advertised price from the major players.

        Sure, which I had paid $2795 though…

Was tempted to wait for the A80K but no real world dates or prices on it yet.

        • Could you have reordered and cancelled that one? Keep the new price one.

But maybe price match only seems to work for some

          • @JL1: My delivery is just a day or two away I've been told, so don't want to risk not getting this 65A80J and having to wait for the 65A80K.

We have a 65X95H but it met its match with a TV remote in early 2022, man it's been painful watching it all this times.

I didn't see this posting until after the link had expired on TGG as well ;(

            • @klif-e: Ah I see, a80k wouldn't be bad but wait and expensive proce.

              Damn TV remote.

Yeah I missed the link too, wanted to get the price in my Sony cart in case any friends wanted to get one.

  • Did anyone get a screenshot? I tried price match through Sony straight away, but given the page is removed they probably won't honour it.

    • I only have this. Let me know if you're successful at Price match.

      https://www.google.com.au/shopping/product/14310339089091534…

      • Hmm it doesn't capture the $2795 price point though. I will let you know if Sony does match.

        • Maybe the site was cached in my laptop. I can PM you the screenshot if you want (your PM is not on)

    • +1

I do indeed! Have it sitting idle on my computer still loaded.
      Hopefully this link works?
Also have the whole webpage saved for anyone just in case.

    • +1

Just got an email and a call from Sony saying they will price match, no proof required.

      • +1

That was fast! They haven't come back to me yet.

        • Yeah I put in the price match around when this deal was posted so been a couple hours since.

          • @LeonardoTenInchy: Do you have a screenshot of your Sony cart with the accepted price?

          • @LeonardoTenInchy: Did you get a response from Sony as yet? I lodged a price match request around the same time but nothing as yet.

            • @cerveza: Yeah mate, order has been placed. They contacted me about the approved price match and told me to send them my Sony account email. The TV appeared with the new price in cart and I was able to check out with no worries.

              • @LeonardoTenInchy: how long did it take for the approval to come through? still waiting…

                • @Xcell: About 2 and a half hours. They most likely have had an influx of requests after that so it might take a bit longer.

      • Why would you get a pricematch directly from sony if you can just buy it from the good guys? (if they have stock)

        • TGG took down the page, you might be able to score it in store but other commenters said up to a six week wait on stock. Have to pick it up or pay for delivery.

Sony currently has a free delivery offer, in stock now and potentially can get 7% cashback (if approved). Wouldn't bank on the CB but even without it's a great deal.

          • @LeonardoTenInchy: Ah wow, I managed to get it with TGG this morning and have my order in. Let's see how long the wait time is.

  • -1

Looks like a pricing error and was taken down.

  • I saw this when it was live and I was very tempted but still holding out for the LG G1 price drop on the 65”, won’t reach this level but hopefully around $3,100

  • Guys just a heads up, if any of you put the item on checkout, it might still be saved there.

    • If they out of stock and it's EOL I don't see them getting the product tho

  • -8

I'm sorry but my 2019 Panasonic Oled still reign supreme over these peasants Oled in term of picture quality.

    • +5

Cool story, explains why they're still around.

      • +1

He probably also has a 720 or 1080p Pioneer Kuro plasma that he bangs on about every now and then.

        • -4

You guys are so salty and envy cos of my Panasonic Oled which you cannot get anymore. Watch HDTVTest. Panasonic won best TV every year.

        • To be fair 1080p Pioneer Kuro pretty cool, used to see more on gumtree but now not much of the later models for sale.

  • What!?!?! Sold out already? Was it the last model in the warehouse or something?

  • Ended up getting one from the good guys (it was in my shopping cart but the link had stopped working by then). They called me and said it would be a 1-6 week wait because it wasn't in stock…. after it said 3-7 days on the website for delivery.
