More expensive than in the past but seems to be a good price at the moment noting the cost of all semiconductors going up.

Great alternative to Chromecast audio if you install volumio, pairs well with your obligatory Ozbargainer pair of discount Edifiers.
$109 at jaycar +10 for case of your choice on aliexpress + 10 for SD card on amazon + old phone charger seems better to me. Not sure how available in stores. It is available near me. Surely Jaycar isn't cheap and there are better options around!
92.40 at core-electronics.
Agreed. And you can get better accessories there, and still come up with a similar price, e.g.
92.40 RPi 4B 4GB
16.45 Official Rpi 4 Power Supply
21.95 Argon NEO aluminium case (case acts as a heatsink, keeps RPi cool)
6.00 shipping
Total cost $136.80, and add a micro-SD card from JB HiFi or similar (if you don't already have one lying around). Maybe get a high-endurance card.
You'll miss out on a video cable, instruction manual, a tiny screwdriver, a card reader, and the micro-SD card you buy from JB HiFi won't be pre-loaded with the OS. If you want the video cable, add it to your Core order for $7.65.
Note also that the RPi 4B can boot from a USB stick, this is probably easier to use for your initial learning. Using a micro-SD card frees up a USB port.
A good deal though if you want everything delivered in one box, and almost ready-to-go.
Thx, 109 with free delivery. Always had good experience with Jaycar customer service.
I purchased this kit 18 months ago from the same supplier.
The board over-heats, and the fan lasted less than a month before loud whirring sound.
It was a basic project running Rpi desktop and running a web browser, with minimal use.

Very fast delivery, got it within 7 days.
That's about it :-)
I run home assistant from mine. Been faultless. Sits at 40-50 degrees on cool days, 50-55 degrees warm days. Putting in case added about 5 degrees. Fan dropped temp well, but was too noisy and I'm understanding my temps are perfectly acceptable anyway.
Have you been using spotify integration and aarlo/arlo? I just can't seem to get them to work
No. My thing I want to work but doesn't is the aqara e1 door sensor…
@iamherenow: It is frustrating at times
Mine overheats in the offical case, I bought what looks to be the same fan from core electronics for $2 to try and cut and install it into the case to help.. but let’s see, the little heat sinks will probably help.
The small fan did very little in my experience. Same for the heatsinks.
Out of curiosity, I put cpu fan on outside of my case with variable DC power supply. The fan sucked through the holes in my case. I lowered the DC voltage til the fan was silent. Lowered my temps around 25% (10 degrees). But didn't leave it on, as temps were fine anyway.
I installed mine in the case right on top of the SOC heat sink, temps when under load have gone from 75 down to 35 degrees - loud as hell though for a little fan..
I’m going to connect via a transistor so the fan only comes on when over a limit.. say 60C or so..
Hi. I've never had a pi overheat so am curious, what happens exactly?
I use an Argon One case I bought at Core Electronics. Passive and active cooling. So far, love it.
Same issue with the fan from the previous deal. Often get low voltage warning with the supplied charger too.
I would recommend the Flirc cases, but they are expensive
On similar kits have replaced 3 fans and they do not last!
I came looking for Raspberries!
They have a history of not shipping, fyi.
Best low stress Plex server for the money (open media vault + Raspberry Pi OS Lite)
