I know sending low amounts of currency is a scam/ "marketing" tactic for cryptocurrencies but this is weird.
There's no description for the transaction so might not be marketing.
The only info I have of this person is their initial and last name. They have a very common last name so I can't really contact them and give them their money back.
Another point is I'm with Up and have a unique [email protected] email as my payID so I'm not sure how someone could accidentally sent it to me without deliberate typing out the entire thing. And I know that email is not leaked somewhere on the internet because I have never used that payID email for anything at all.
I've already contacted my bank to reverse the payment but just wanted to ask fellow OzBargainers if they experienced something like this as well? The probability of someone accidentally sending it is so low that I kinda feel paranoid now :/
Received Random Osko Payment from Stranger

Could be the result of an incorrect account/BSB number. I work in government grants and it's surprising how often people enter the wrong information.
Osko payments don't need the payid , you can enter the bsb/account instead. So someone probably just made a mistake.
Yeah but I have received osko payments via both methods before and the Up app does tell you which method was used for the transaction.
Take the money and run
reverse the payment
you did a great job man.
What's Up man?
Wasn't this question discussed before here?
The last person reversed the payment by asking bank to have it reversed. You should do that too, You never know who and how other party sent you these funds. They might be in real financial struggle or not.
It could also be Rupert Murdoch, in which case it would be morally correct to keep the money because Rupe invests in objectively bad things with his spare money.
Good on you for reversing the transaction.
Can you tell us the amount or at least the range?
Yes, "up yours". lol. 🤣
What was the amount?
