Wasn't there concerns for this bricking your nintendo switch? I remember a few years ago I looked into them and most said these solutions poses risks to damaging the console, wasn't sure how. And most people who wanted a portable solution ended up buying an official dock and then gutting it and putting it into a smaller enclosure.

    Wouldn’t recommend this
Looks like the old portable switch dock that’s being flogged here put into a new shell.
    Bricked my switch

Would really want to be corrected as I really want a portable dock. Nothing against OP, I’m just concerned about these products that no one can attest for.

Neg in meantime to warn others to be careful.

  • Nope, not for Switch, don't brick your switch. If you're using it for thunderbolt on other devices, sure, just not for Switch and it's really branded for Switch.

The Switch uses a custom USB-C protocol which makes it dangerous to use with ANY 3rd party dock.

Yes that's already in the post. I hope you neg all other USB-C hub deals for the same reason.

      • Yep, happy to, if any of them brand themselves as Switch docks that are likely to brick $400+ devices, any day any time. Have a nice day.

I'll link future USB-C docks to you then

          • @Clear: Alright mate, are you, going to personally put your money forward when someone buys this, uses it on their Switch and their Switch dies?

No. You're not. You'll happy flog this dongle claiming it can safely be used with a Nintendo Switch when the community at large is well aware, that you shouldn't do that.

Cut the nonsense please, it's branded as a Switch dock, it's in Switch joycon colours and it's targetted at unsuspecting buyers who want to have a 2nd Switch dock and will likely cause harm to them.

You know? I'll report this to the moderators. +1, thanks for replying to me, this product is hardly more than a scam.

@conza: I had added the warning by diazepam and now updated it to remove the part about the Switch so thanks for pointing that one out. So now there's no reference of me saying it's suitable for the switch. Unless you can point me to somewhere else?
